Will you still be able to run pump gas on the standard bore higher compression pistons? The CRF is able to run on pump gas with a higher compression piston than the TRX. Let me know if any testing was done to verify. Thanks.

Are you guys gonna run the 11.5 or the 13:1? Std bore? Will the 11.5 run o.k. on premium pump gas or is a 50/50 mixture of race gas necessary? Last question, which comp. ratio have you tried and how easy is it to start? Thanks for all your help.

Thats funny just yesterday I got off the phone with JE and they told me they were another month out. I called Wiseco today and they said the same thing. I'm tearing mine down on Monday to have the head ported and wanted a piston by then but it doesn't look like it is going to happen so I guess I'll be doing it again in a month.

Ya that is funny because I didn't talk to them on the phone I talked to them in person at the show, They had pistons there and said That I could have some in a week or so. I think it helps that I am the site sponsor on a well known honda site ( seems that John and Brian at JE know all about exriders and are here to help me help you guys):)

As far as what piston I am going to run, it will be the 11.5:1 std bore for now until the 500cc kit is done. Yes it will run on premium but I think it would be good to use a mix. I am going to take a few weeks to do some other mods step by step to give you guys some feed back and to get to know the jetting and other setup tips for each combonation of mods. I have had years to get the 400ex down pat but want to get this one nailed in a hurry:D

Oops I missed the 140. It sounded like he was going to do some testing so I wasn't sure if they were going to be available for sale then or after he was done testing.

I'm getting my porting done by a guy at my work. He has done a few CRFs and YZ/WRs along with a few street bikes. He has been doing the micro porting and we have seen some pretty impressive numbers on our dyno with it so he is going to do mine. It isn't going to cost me hardly anything because I am going to do some powedercoating for him for the port job.

Could someone give me the drawbacks of running a 13:1 on a std bore 450 w/ a race cam (don't know which yet) besides having to run a mix. And what other mods would be smart to do while the engine is apart (porting etc). I am thinking of going with this setup when I purchase mine this spring. Thank's for you input!

:blah: :blah: Kick*****:blah: :blah:

any word on what octane you gotta run with the 11.5:1 piston, and what about the 13:1?
I had a craptor, and it had the JE piston 10.75:1 compression, and I was told to run 92 octane or better.

I want to get a cam, piston and exhaust for mine, just not clear on what is best for me riding MX and some woods.

You have a part number so I can order one? I tore my bike down today for powdercoating on the frame and pulled the head off for porting. I'd like to get the piston before I have to put it back together but I need to order it NOW! I have to have it done in about a week and a half!:eek2: Here a final quote on how much they are going to be?

I know that he called and left a message for them yesterday, I am sure that he will call them today again ;)

Ok guys here is the scoop.

Just got off the phone with JE they have had a set back due to a staffing problem the JE off the shelf pistons will take up to another month or two to make and be available. I have worked out a deal with JE to custom build me the pistons on a custom order basis for exriders members. I need to know what compression ratio and bore size is going to be the most popular so I can get an order going. If I order these pistons this week I will have them in two weeks. The specs will be the same as I gave in the first post.
I also will be ordering the 500cc piston kits at the same time, which is a bore and replate not resleeve. All the pistons will be the same price which I just finalized with JE which is $165 for the custom pistons the shelf piston will be alittle cheaper because I get a better break on them, But if most of you are like me you will spend an extra few bucks to have the first of something

SO sound off guys I need #'s :D

Stock is 10.5 to 1, right? Would 11 to 1 even be worth doing? And on the 13 to 1 would that work ok with 93 octane. I don't see a really good choice for me.

Let us know when those piston's are here.....It really sucks waiting on parts for so long for the trx.

You can place your orders today from what I gathered and they should be at your door in less than 3 weeks, but the price is $25.00 more unless you want to wait 2-3 months for a production version of the piston.

Correct me if I am wrong Colby, and thanks for doing the leg work for the members to get their pistons right away :)

As I stated before I need four people to agree upon the same compression ratios and order them from me and yes you could have them in 2 weeks. I posted this 3 weeks ago and could have the piston in your hands by now but I only got one phone call. So if you guys want pistons call and order and I will get them made.:) I want them as bad as everyone else but i don't want to be holdiing a bunch of piston that are not selling.

Colby I think I want a 13 to 1 but I don't know what type or octane fuel I would need to run or how much power it might add. If JE can give you this info to give to us then I will order one thursday or friday but I want the info first. Thanks Colby!

I called JE today and they said they would have normal production going 2 weeks from Friday if everything fit right. So you should be able to do a normal order in two - three weeks.
