Just wondering if its worth dropping my front tire size to 19 inch? I have RAZR mx's 18's on douglas beedlocks for the rear. Others have said the ride height was a bit high on the R, will that make a big difference, or will it just make me scrape bottom more ?

I have ITP Holeshot mx on my 400ex 19s in ther front and the 18s on the rear. It made the bike alot lower and the thing handled awsome. it will slide the best and make the bike jump better. also your stock gearing will seem better cause of the smaller tires.the only problem is making the bike lower does tend to bottom out more. i found in the trails i bottmed out more and that you can feel the bumps more but all in all its awsome if you if you like jumping and mx type riding .hope this helps!!!

Also on my 450r im putting on 21 s in the front and 20s in the rear just to see how lowering the front will react but if you are doing alot of pit and track the 18s would be better in my opinion.

We put the 10x5 hipers with the 20'' mx klaws on the front and the 8x8 hipers with 18 klaw mx's on the rear and really like it. It seemed to fix the gearing problem in 1st gear and lowered the bike quite abit. We also backed the preload off the front and rear shocks to lower the bike even more. The stock tire have too much side wall flex and can bounce you around alot.:)

Speaking of tire size, this may be a dumb question but here goes anyway. You guys mention that it makes a difference in ride height I was wondering how much? Like how tall is the bike with stock tires on, verse with the 19 on? Thanks

Not sure exactly what the ride height was, but with dropping the rear from 20 inch to 18 inch it drops down 1 full inch the ride height

hope that will help you out

think bout it...

20 inch stock tires in the back and their are puttin on 18s... thats 2 inches smaller... one inch on top... one inch on the bottom... so it drops the bike one inch in the rear...

22 inch stk front... put a 19 on thats 3 inches off total... 1.5 inches on each side so the front sits 1.5 inchs shorter then stock

Like I said, stupid question, but had to ask anyway just couldn't stop myself.:D

also, how much effect does changing the tires have on the overall balance of the machine. stock is 20 rear verse 22 front, now 18 rear verse 19 front. stock there is a 1inch difference when considering diameters, and now only .5. will that really have an effect on how a bike handles? I have always gone with stock tires so not sure how it effects a bikes handling/balance?

The balance of the bike will be alot better due to the lowering with the tires. the bike will be harder to tip and will slide really easy.
