Just wondering if anyone has switched to this style swingarm. And used a 400ex/250r axle? Did you use the stock caliper with a custom mounting plate? Or did you use a 250r or 400ex caliper?

Just doing a little research.

i will be going to a rpm round house honda style using my 400ex components and a 250r antifade and rotor, i beleive most of the swingarms come with brake plate to use the yfz caliper on the honda carrier

Thanks thats what I was looking for. And it would make it a little cheaper to convert if i ever do.

I think Walsh and RPM sell a brake stay so u can use either a 250R rear brake caliper or a Honda CRF450 front brake caliper.

i got the Walsh swingarm as well and i have the 250r rear caliper on it.

the brake plate that walsh was triing to design to accept the stock yfz450 caliper but yet take the 250 rotor and brake plate mount could not be done, it is mechanically impossible i was told

burgard sells there swingarms that use a bracket to adapt the yfz caliper to the r caliper or ex caliper? its on there webpage i imagine it would work with any round house swingarm

I have the Viper 250r rear end. They just let me use a spacer plate and I kept the YFZ caliper, rotor, etc.

I guess even the yamaha's need a little honda in them to make them good.

I think there good regardless. I was just think if i got a yfz at some time and was going to get a swingarm i might as well get one with a fonda style axle holder. And save a lil money not having to buy another rpm axle. That and its easier to adjust the chain.

can u use a 250r rotor, yfz caliper and a 400ex axle and axle carrier? could i use a crf 450 front caliper on the rear with a 400ex or 250r rotor?

I too am very interested in this.

Can I use my YFZ hubs on either a 250R or 400EX axle?

What about brake and sprocket hubs?

I'm pretty sure you will have to use all honda parts except for the caliper if you get a plate that allows it.

I think that the YFZ hubs will fit on either a 400EX or a 250R axle but not sure which one.

Maybe they do?, But its probly a little easier having a honda bolt pattern especially if your switching from a honda quad to the yfz. If you have a few sets of wheels sitting around.

Well I hope they do cause I ain't coming off a honda, and I have 3 sets of wheels for this quad already.

My bearing carrier was modified to accept a YFZ axle.

I'm not sure how it was done, I had somebody do it for me, but I will contact them and get all of the information down and let you know.

I had PRP make me a round housing swing arm. It rocks!

03-04-2004, 01:12 PM
i know burgard makes a swing arm that has the honda Style rear end but used all the YFZ parts. I was under the impression that most companies were this way. but reading this I guess not. and NO hubs don'e switch!!!! same # of splines different size splines. we did put some 200x hubs on mine but it was a biooootch.
