DID O-ring, or if you want to spend the extra money the X-ring.

how much better is the x-ring chain than the o-ring?

i got the renthal o ring and it is good, only thing i hate about it is when it is brand new with that nasty white cream on it.....but it all off now and the color of the chain looks good to
there is no difference really in the xring or oring chain except price & it sounds cooler to have an xring  some people will say they add like 4 horsepower or whatever but they are dirty liars. go with any oring 520 chain..I prefer DID

That nasty white cream was lithium grease.
I had a DID Gold X Ring chain on my EX, and rode on it for a full summer until it finally stretched, and needed adjusting. Best chain for the money, in my opinion.

whenever you go to order a chain it has 2 numbers one is 520 and the other has a lot of variety of different numbers. what do those numbers stand for and which one would it be for a 300ex?

just tell them you need a chain for a 300ex and they will know what you need.be sure to mention if your swingy is extended or not.
and the sidewinders are a waste, i can stretch thier stainless steel chain just as quick as any other and the sprocket life isnt half of what its advertised
DID O-Ring is a good chain. The cheaper chains arent bad, but they will not last as long. For racing, big jumping or hard riding, get a good chain. For knock about fun riding, get a 20 buck chain and let it rip. The trick is to keep it lubed.

SGA....bro...i dont agree with getting a cheap chain....you buy a cheap chain....and it snaps. and hits your casing......your outta some cash....i bought a cheap chain for my old 250x 1 time and i stretched that mofo in 2 weeks time and was usless again....i still have the stock O-ring chain on my 400ex, i think pretty soon imma take that off and purchase a new chain and a renthal sprockets
imo...dont buy a cheap chain...if you dont want to be stranded out in the trail or track with a broke chain and a busted case

I had a cz-k o-ring chain and it snapped in half last night, ended up buying a regular 520 chain for $10 today:D
True, you get what you pay for. I read somewhere most of the chains that come on new quads are made by DID. If I was in a cash crunch and just poked around, I would get a less expensive chain. Otherwise I would get a DID O-ring or equivilent.
You are right , its just not worth it to be stuck out in the middle of nowhere because of a cheap chain.
I will say it again though, keep the chain/sprockets clean and lubed and they will last a very long time. Im amazed how many quads I have seen riding around with rusty chains and sprockets. Oh well, its their wallet.

a friend of mine tried to tell me that I didn't need to lube my chain until it started kinking...I wanted to smack him....:grr: I looked at his chain and I wonder how his 400 even moves.....

i was just getting ready to post the same question...I also need a new chain ...but my son said that the chain came off like a couple of times and the last time it broke....any ideas on that..do I need to replace the sprockets too..???? or is there anything else I need to look for..???I dont want to buy a new chain and end up tearing it up because something else is wrong..???
if youre chain broke definately check your sprockets for missing or worn down teeth...if you dont fix your sprockets the exact same problem will reoccur ;)

No complaints with my DID X ring and sunstar steel sprockets.
