to all interested, I am friends with ACS racing (www.acsracing.com) and they have a quad dyno. A few days ago (2/10/04) another friend picked up his new trx 450R. We ran it on the dyno, and it made 32.7 HP to the rear wheels, period.... No bullsh*t numbers like evryone is posting all over the net. And the YFZ 450 (I have 2 of them) both made the same numbers (1 made 32.7, other made 31.9) THe curves are almost identical, the honda comes on earlier, and sighs off earlier, but they are very close. As for the Banshee......ACS owns 2 of them an 03, and an 04. the 03 made 35.8 HP bone stock, 04 made 35.7. With just a set of FMF SST pipes and jetted, they made 43 HP (03 42.9, 04 43.2). These are real numbers, I will scan the dyno printouts if you want. Oh and retard the exhaust cam one tooth, put an FMF powerbomb/Titanium Muffler and jets (178 main, 45 pilot) and expect 48HP to the ground on a YFZ (that's what mine makes)With the HRC kit from Honda, the 450R made just under 38 HP to the wheels. A full exhaust should put it close to 50 (between 47-50). But we'll have to wait until the pipe comes in. Oh, and over the summer we dynoed a 416EX, not sure of what parts were in it, but the typical things everyone does to the 400ex, and it made 33 hp when it came to the shop, after jetting it, and adjusting the carb on the dyno we got it to just under 36 hp to the wheels.

cool, too bad the YFZ is faster. I have a piped jetted and cam modded yfz with full sparks system and a custom intake and today there was a TRX that had alky, pipe, swing arm, high comp piston and cams and we were dead even.

I have never seen any pipe give any Honda that kind of power increase. Even the new Curtis Sparks doesn't claim to add 10 HP. I want to see the DYNO's. Please upload them for us....

no exhaust gives 10 hp... period..

i dont beleive those dynos. cause for one thing i know my ex puts out about 27 or 28, and i know for a fact its not even close to the yfz or the TRX in any aspect(horsepower, torque, etc.)

I'll get the printouts tomorrow, ACS is closed today. As for why your ex is alot slower with close numbers, the YFZ, and TRX are making 5-6 hp more through the whole powerband (even more in the low RPM), so by the end of a drag they are way ahead of you. Dynos are decieving, everyone looks at the top number, but what if the motor peaks high, but has low power everywhere else. A motor that has more consistant, but less power may still be faster when you get it out on the track/trail. The pipe gave my YFZ almost 9hp gain. After we ran it stock, we did the cam mod, and took of the air box lid we got almost 39hp (38.8 or something like that) After the pipe, and jetting it makes 47.7 (so i rounded it off to 48) That is an 8.9hp gain period. We are just guessing what the TRX will make , the pipe isn't in yet but we will see soon. If anyone lives near MA (30 miles south of Boston)come on down with your quad, we'll run it on the dyno and you can see your true numbers. We have a Car, and Bike dyno too. We also have a test track at the shop.

Good info. Those #'s sound about right to me.

Remember guys that all dynos read differently and cannot really be compared ... but doing a baseline with a stock bike and then again with mods on the same dyno is the way to go ... the numbers actually mean something then.

Because the HRC kit already opens up the exhaust with the addition of a full pipe I would think it would be a 2-3 hp gain. But I might be wrong .... I am a lot :D
