#40 pilot in 400ex question

I bought a 40 pilot jet for my 400ex carb. My question concerns the difference in the jets. they look the same, except the 40 is longer. Not by too much, but it is def. longer. I thought the only difference should be the size of the hole. Just wondering if i got the right jet? Does anybody know?

If you look closely the holes should be a little bit bigger, they are on my 42 compared to my 38...
