Cool pix man. I am jealous.
HOw much was it to ship yer quad to SanDiego and how long did it take. Feel free to elaborate on how the procedure works.

THanks.

a friend of mine has an account with forward air,so it cost me only $205 each way to ship( would have cost around $435 each way retail). I dropped the quad off at the forward air terminal in Newark NJ in its original crate that I got from the dealership. The quad arrived in 4 days in San Diego.

Those rims are made by Hiper.

How about a ride report? Curious how the bike held up? Where did you start your trip, where did you end up? What kind of mileage did you get on the bike? Just curious.

Yep, give us some more information on how it handled the dunes, what engine mods you have. What are your thoughts on the power delivery, suspension in the sand and trails Etc.

thanks!

We started our ride from Hacienda Veronica which is just outside of Tecate B.C. Mexico, we rode 158 miles the first day thru the Seirra mountains to Mikes Sky Ranch @ 5900 feet up,The next day we rode another 90 miles down the mountains thru a dried up lake bed to San Felipe. The 450R held up amazingly...I only lost one heat shield bolt the entire ride,Im sure glad I went with the Hiper Rims because there were some pretty nasty rocks in some sections,a few of the 400ex's in our group bent rims and had flats, i was one of the lucky ones with zero problems. The 450R started with one kick almost the whole ride.....I only used the Hot start @ 3 times. I turned all of my suspension adjustments to full soft because of the desert riding and sand dunes, trying to prevent a sore *** because I still had 5 more days of riding !The bike handles amazing, though one time I was flying down china wall and at the bottom there is a nasty whoop section.......my foot came off the right peg and sucked my leg under the tire....I saved it though, cant wait for the AC Propeg Nerfs, lol.

I am still trying to get used to the new look of the nose on that dang thing. Not sure if it will grow on me or not. (BTW the looks would in NO WAY keep me from buying one! :D ) Anyway, on to my question. The plastic looks like it has different looks in different lighting. Is it the same kind of plastic as on the 400EX? What I mean is...back in the early 80s, if I remeber correctly, Honda changed its plastic some. It still had the same "color" red, but it seemed to be a bit more translucent. If you saw it with the sun, or a light behind it, it kinda looked orange, (like some of YOUR pics, unless it is just the camera makin a boo-boo) I had a couple friends that bought new XR motorcycles, and the plastics were definately different than my older Honda bike. It looks like they may have done the same thing again. Oh ya, like the others have already said "I too am jealous as can be" Nice ride.
