I see we have fellow R riders with the new Yamaha in th garage. I really like my new YFZ450. Still breaking it in. This thing rips in stock form. I really picked the yamaha over the TRX450R due to the electric start and overall appearence of the bike. I honestly think the Yamaha look better than the Honda. Just my 2cents.

I have to agree , it's great time have a diversity on this site now . This has to be the best site on the Internet for information and to just shoot the Chit !! Next year I will buy my membership for the site . I wish I could this year , but $$ is a little tight .

Pappy , any other things unexpectedly drop by your door from Baldwin?? Maybe some of those items can be mistakenly be sent to Canada  ....

I did my first race with the YFZ this past weekend . I was running an outdoor ice race ( MX style ie snow jumps and slick corners) and I was VERY impressed with the quads handling and power . I was running against some pretty done up machines and all mine had was studds in the tires ( everyone else had studds also) . I pulled the holeshot in both motos , and ended up in a 4th overall . It could have been a better finish if I wouldnt have crashed twice in the 1st moto ( damn nervousness) and then I spun out in the 2nd moto and put it into a hay bail . I probably would have gotten a 2nd place overall ( 1st place guy was fast and had more ballz than I did to do all the jumps ) . Way till you get your YFZ on the track .....it's awesome . I'll try and set up a website or somethign and post pictures I've taken of the quad so far .

Harlen, Pappy,

Nicely done! There is too much good info on your site to be lost to the "brand" bashing. Your actions have bridged the gap in tolerance of ones color...red or blue or yellow!

I am very pleased with the positive responses I have received from adding the new forum sections. The fact couldn't be denied that a majority of members of EXriders.com now own ATVs other than Honda, so I felt it was important to have section for these members to share information.

Plus, I hope to see a reduction in the amount of brand bashing. I have seen enough "My A quad is better than Your B quad." They are all great and only getting better!

Well, I have said enough, ENJOY!!! :D

Well I just ordered my Curtis Sparks Stainless steel pipe with air filter kit. It should take a week to get here. I have run Curtis Sparks pipes on my 250r, 400ex and love em. I hope the one for the YFZ450 is great also.

The oil tank is made by CFM. it installed easily and everything fit properly with no modifacations to any of the stock parts. I like the idea of a bit more oil for the added protection it offers.

The quad is lookin sweet!!! But I thought you said your stayin stock for awhile??? Just couldn't stand it I'll bet. I finally decided to go with the Honda. I'll be gettin it around the 1st of March. Yeah, the dealers around here are only gettin two a month. I had to put down $2,000.00 just to reserve the next one comin in!!! I am going with the HRC kit, or at least part of it but that will be all by H/M trip.

ive ridden the yfz not the trx, i could be 100% wrong its just my opinion.i think honda dropped the ball wating so long to get the 450 out. i like the way the yfz looks compared to the trx, i think the trx should have come in an elec start thats a big negative for an xc racer.

Pappy
02-17-2004, 11:29 AM
i have riden both but not enough time on the trx to give a full comparison.

when i sat on the trx it felt alot like an R but didnt feel like an R when i rode it. the yfz handles like an R and IMO the power delivery is alot like a 2 stroke.

when i get a chance to put these 2 head to head i will elaborate but ive seen other posts comparing the 2 that pretty much sum them up very well.

the electric start and the looks sold me on the yfz also.

i dont like where the radiator fill is on the TRX (personal preference) i dont like the overall look of the TRX but power wise and handling were good. the stock suspension is even better then i expected and the same went for the yfz.

my personal message to people is this:

if you like a 250r you will love the yfz. if you like the 400ex you will pop wood riding the trx450r.
