Houser or Laeger A-arms?

I can get laeger and elka front end for about 1350. I can get the long travel houser and elka for 1450. Which one should i get for mx racing in the future. I am not sure if I really need the long travel but for only 100 more might as well but what do you guys think i should do? Or should i get something else besides a-arms and that stuff just make suggestions but i need to have it with a short wait for shipping and has to have a rear conversion avalible. Thanks

you could get the elkas with regular houser aarms for 1200 from C and D racing. Thats what i am going to do.

The long travel will be better tho.

i'm finding the guy thats saying he can get elkas and houser long travel set-up for 1450 hard to belive. the houser a-arms are 800 and the elkas are 1000 for long travel. i don't belive it. theres a saying no lunch is free. and quad parts don't come cheap

*shrugs* If he wants to sell them low, dont see any reason why he shouldnt be able to. I doubt very much he is losing money or he wouldnt be doing it. So if he is happy with his profits... and the customer is happy with the deal, where is the problem here? If other dealers chose to keep prices up, that is their choice and from the overall market for shocks, I doubt he is really hurting anyone anyhow... just helping those that quite honestly might have gone with a cheaper setup that didnt fit their needs.

Bottom line is this... I know what its like to be in all your shoes. I've been racing for a number of years and EVERYTHING I've done to my quad I PAYED for. No sponsors at all. Gets pretty expensive, well any way I'm getting older now and can't run with the big boys. So instead of hanging up my hat and getting out of the sport totally, I opened up this shop. This way I still get to enjoy my only passion in the world, and help out young and up comming racers doing it. Everybody wins. I'm not trying to get rich. I don't want to charge you a arm and a leg for some shocks. But I will if I'm forced to!! Look I HAVE a great job (industrial electrician) and make more money than most people, so I'm not doing this for the money. In fact in the 2 months I've been open I've LOST more that $3000.00 I'm trying to help out you little guys that Nac's and K&K won't even look at. Maybe later on Nacs or K&K will sponsor you and that will be great, but unitll then your probally can't afford all the stuff you want. I know I've got $14000.00 is my 400ex and I'm still not done. So you can take this for whats its worth, If you agree and I see some of you do...Thank You. If you don't... call someone else.

I would go with the Houser Long Travel A-Arms and Elka Front Shocks. If it`s only a $100 more dollars it`s well worth it. I think it is great this Guy is lowering his Prices. Who cares what Elka, Houser, and other Companies think. If he`s selling the same stuff cheaper why would you want to buy it some where else?

Here`s the Setup you should do: Houser Long Travel A-Arms, Elka Long Travel Triple Rate SSD Comp. Adjust Front Shocks, Houser Steering Stem, Houser Swingarm, Elka Rear Shock Conversion, RPM or LSR Axle, and a Axle Locknut of some Kind. Sounds good to me.

laeger is not going to chrome anything anymore. I guess they are having so many problems with chroming because it takes longer, and they are really backed up. I just made it, mine are chrome...i got lucky, but mark baldwin told me that they aren't going to do it anymore until they get caught up.

I think companies and or distributors should start putting together whole a-arms, shock, brake line, axle kits together. I know Shoc Connection does this in a package deal, i think its very nice becuase u can just order the kit instead of shopping different places for different parts. Maybe i'm just to lazy i don't know.

I was going to order the 1450 setup from the guy. Me and my dad even called witht he credit card out. Turns out this guy dont take credit cards so i did not order. he did not sound reliable enuff to send him a money order. MRUSK, I remember when you called. You called last Sat. and did not give me a chance to talk about other options with you. You found out I couldn't accept credit cards and hung up. Fact is the little box that you run cards through is $720.00. Then $29.00 a month and then $.30 for EVERY transaction you run though the thing. At the time I was debating on If I could afford to get one. Then when you called and didn't order I realized something, when I order parts for my bike, espically shocks, arms, swing arms, axils, or engine work... I don't have the money in hand to do it. I put it on my credit cards. So the application for the little box has been sent out. The guy on the other end for the phone says it takes 10 to 15 days to get approved, then another 10 days for the little box to show up. so in like 3 weks I'll be collecting credit cards. I'm NOT trying to scam anybody, and I"m sorry you felt that way. Sorry MRUSK if i inconvienced you and your dad.

i got to thinking how you could sell this stuff so cheap. what are you selling the 16" shocks and the a-arms for 16" shocks. if this is so it's hardly worth 1450. i would rather spend 1800 on true long tavel set-up.. so in truth if this is what your selling your not giving them a good deal, there the same as any where else. hmm..if i was you guys i would save the 350 more dollars and get the 19 in set-up.

The $1450.00 price is for the 19 inch shocks and arms.

I don`t know why you would want Chrome A-Arms or Swingarm for Motorcross. Sure it looks nice, but I would rather have the Gray Hammertone Powdercoat.

I agree, powder coat holds up much better. i got chrome upper arms because usually those don't get chipped. unless a rock hits them. i'll be getting a black powdercoated swingarm.

Most likely not. I am really considering a fully gibson setup though. I am waiting to see the pics of quad041s gibson frame. A fully gibson set up will cost like frame- 2300

So thats 4200. Aint that bad..heh only 700 more than i paid for my R. But i figure i gotta buy aarms, stem and a swingarm anyway. And adventually i will have to buy a frame because mine will break.

If i was going to get a laeger frame i would defintly get the narrow frame with the pro trax front end. If your spending all that money why not spend a little more and have the best.

If you dont want a narrow frame its a waste to spend the 2400 on a laeger frame when u can buy a arens for 1800 which is as good as will last as long as any other frame!

Warriorman i gotta find out how much of a difference the narrow front end makes. I remember reading in mag a couple years ago that Tim Farr runs the normal width front frame becuase he likes it better. If the width doesnt make that much of a difference i'll just get a arens. It would save me alot of $$$.

Yeah, a T-pn would be sweet on a 400. they make one for the raptor...but not the 400, that BS. i think it would be more popular on a 400.

I saw that Lonestar Setup. I would never buy that. You have to buy the A-Arms for $735 and then the Spindles Setup for $1500. I would much rather have the Laeger T-Pin Front End.

i think one of the main reason's so many people buy it is because that's what everyone carries....only certain people carry laeger, or houser, or walsh, but EVERYONE carries lonestar......it's just like DG, everyone carries it so that why people buy it.

I am seriously thinking aobut going to a walsh or gibson chasis for my 250r. The thing with the walsh is that there is a 14 month wait and it would cost me like a grand more for everythnig. I would really like to come across a YZF426 motor for 2k.

I think i could afford to build a yz quad if i take all the factory parts like brakes and stuff off of my R and use all the aftermarket parts i have on my R already. If i do this i would half to spread it out over like a year and a half, but i think i could do it. First thing i gotta do is get a motor. In my area i can buy a 426 for 4k. I hear of people sellin there chasis for 2k. If i could do that it wouldnt be that bad. Cuz i figure when i do my whole R motor i am going to plan close to 2k.

NACS400EX, you need to keep your 400. just save every single penny and you will eventually have enough money for your mods. i'm a poor college student but during the summer i work 12 hour days. and i make as much money as possible...this summer i made enough money to get a arms, shocks, and my motor built. next winter i'm getting a swingarm, steering stem, subframe, and my frame welded/gusseted/and powdercoatd.

hopefully my stock swingarm won't break, because i spent all of my money and i'm broke right now. and if my swingarm breaks...then i'll be SOL until i make enough money to buy a swingarm. i mow lawns....and right now, i can't mow anything.
i also plow snow during the winter, and we have no snow, so i can't do that either.......that's why i'm poor.

i work for a huge company....i'm sure my boss has close to 400 lawns. I make 400 a week flat rate. me and a few other guys make this much because my boss is my old basketball coach...he's awsome. i think the other people he has hired make like 250 or 300.

i love mowing just because my boss is cool about everything...we can goof off and have as much fun as we want..AS LONG AS WE GOT OUR WORK DONE...

i love mowing....but if i work for my buddies dad that owns the drain tile company....he said he would pay me $12 an hour to work for him.....but that guy talks out of his ***** a lot so i doubt that i would be making that much.

This is odd, i also work at a golf course, and all i do for 10 hours a day is mow grass. Its awsome just drive a $20k mower around for awhile get paid and not have any responsiblities. Although its alot harder then mowing a lawn, strait lines and what not. If you guys want good money u should look into a local golf course in your area. Usually really good money and the work isn't bad, i'm 17 and alread get holiday pay, hourly bonus' and a christmas bonus. Just my 2 sense

Obviously you have never heard of minimum advertised prices. You know the one that is in your contract when you sign up for dealerships for company's. Plus you are using EXriders forums as free advertising that is call SPAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Everyone else thinks it great you are selling stuff this cheap the only thing your doing is hurting yourself and ligitimate dealers. As soon as the Distributors find out what you are supposable selling their products for they will deffinately pull your dealership for not respecting their prices if you even sell the stuff that you claim. I would be very leery of this guy!!!!!!! If he does sell this stuff he won't be for long!

My dad owns a landscaping company and I work for him in the summer. I get around $250 a week. I mow sometimes but mostly I do cleanup, weedwack, trim bushes, and stuff like that. He has his regular workers do the mowing. NJ is in a serious drought though and this summer he might not be able to work that much and that means I won't be able to either. So hope for a ton of rain to come our way soon.

I would rather Work on a Farm then do anything else. I like doing that Stuff. Plus it helps you stay in Shape. The Drain Tile Job would be good too. I would always be outside moving stuff. I really want that Job.

The only thing I don't like about working in the summer doing stuff outside is that it is so damn hot. If it was a nice 70 degrees with a breeze that would be good but 85 or more is no good.

i AM Going to be making about 1200 on a painting crew to paint the local OU Bobcats Campus and good thing is its all inside and Air conditioned. I cant wait then ill mow some lawns and make more money but hope fully ill get some motor work and swing arm this summer ur i might have to buy my front end if my mom wont buy it.

I like the Hot Weather too. Then the 400 will Start easier. If I get this Drain Tile Job I would be in Jeans all day. Plus when we Bail. That`s when I hate the hot weather. Bailing Hay is terrible. Last year me and my Neighbor had to Bail a whole field by ourselves. The one Trailer was stacked 8 high. But yeah, as long as I`m making money I don`t care.

I must have the best of both worlds, i mow grass and make good money AND i live on a farm. Although i would really luv to beable to work on our farm full time but theres just not enough work to do and the econmy and prices ect. isn't helping it out though. I just think its cool that kids our getting out and working for what they want, alot of my friends parents just buy them nice vechiles, spending money and buy them quads. my parents just laugh at me when i ask for sum $$.

Oh yeah eat your pork! we raise over 10k pigs a year so help me out so i can ride :D

I was supposed to get my motor on monday, but it's now thurs. and i still don't have it. i'm getting mad. I'm on spring break right now and i wanted to get it on monday so that i could ride this week, but my spring break is almost over and my quad hasn't moved.

I can`t believe you haven`t got your Shocks and A-Arms yet. You should of told Baldwin to send you the A-Arms so the 400 would be ready to ride after you got the Shocks put on. What else are you going to Order?

I`ve always liked PEP, but I will be going with Elka. The Elka might be Built better then the PEP`s and I can get them in a Couple of Weeks.

well, i wanted a Quad tech seat cover and carbon fiber hood. also, a roll steering stem, RPM rear hubs, duncan steel braided brakelines, a laeger swingarm, new chain, al. airbox, and a carb......i think the brakelines and the carb are what's very next on my list. but my list of things i want is extensive...i want front beadlocks, new subframe, and tons of other stuff.

i tried calling bud a little earlier but his phone was busy. if i don't get it tomorrow, i'll be calling a lot more. :grr

Sounds Good. The only thing I would change is the Steering Stem. If your getting Laeger for everything else, I would get a Laeger Steering Stem too.

i get 25% off on Roll steering stem. But that's not set in stone yet, i really haven't made my mind up yet. i'm also considering the laeger or an RPM steering stem. I ordered the CR ignition from esr.

From nacs i ordered: rear brake line, hinson billet brake pedal, rear braided line, tm swingarm protection, black # plates, cr head gasket, hinson airbox rings and sterring stem bushing, and a TM alloy oil filler plug. Thats all i need from nacs.
My dad was going to order my houser aarms and sterring stem and elka shocks front and rear from CD racing but he didnt have time. He said he'll do it monday. There is only going to be like a 2-3 week wait for the elkas so like no riding till april.

And i am ordering from kandk monday also: wesico piston, chain and sprokets, tag bars, LSR axle carrier and lock nut, and rear hubs.

Yea i think thats all!

Yeah, duncan makes all sorts of things. and since i get a discount from them, i mide as well get them.

My motor......grrrrr........when i talked to him two thursday's ago, he said that i will have it by at least monday.....well when friday came around and i still didn't have it, i called to see what was up....he hadn't even sent it yet....it was boxed up ready to go though....he said that it was to late to get it out that day, so it will be sent out on monday. i was soooo pissed. i was on spring break last week and if my motor would have come on monday,i would have had plenty of time to put it together, and i would have got to ride A LOT. but now my break is over and i have to go back to college.....it sux.
