Push button 4X4 ?????

My qustion is relating to a push button 4X4 in an 1988 Bronco.I am used to the manuel hubs on a suburban I used to own.With the manuel hubs I know you put it into neutral turn the caps to free and then shift it into 4X4.With this automatic push button 4X4 should I shift into neutral then push the button like before. Or can I have it into drive still while on am stoped and push the button to engage it.

I'm not sure about the Bronco's but on my Blazer I can go into 4 wheel high at any speed or gear but I have to be stopped or under about 5 mph to engage 4 wheel low AND in neutral.

4x4 high your not supposed to engauge any higher than 45 and you not supposed to go any faster than that either low your supposed to be stopped but you don't have to be neutral that's for the ford ranger and bronco
