I was wondering what the difference was between the HRC cam and the XR cam. I called service honda and asked for a year 2000 XR 400 cam and they told me it was $140. Do I need to ask for the HRC cam, or what is the difference? THANKS

the hrc will give more mid to top end power. the only way i would put the xr cam in my bike is if i wasn't concerned with high speed riding or if low end is what i was looking for. the hrc is quite a bit more expensive than $140 though. i think it is $270 or $280. the xr isn't that much more than a stock cam so if you were just to replace the cam and not the piston a xr or stage 1 hotcam might be the best route. if i put a higher compression piston in too, i would get a more aggressive cam, but mid to top is more important than low end power for myself.

i hear people talking about the hotcams.i got the stage 1 because i was lacking alot of bottom to mid.it picked up the bottom and mid alot but it also helped the top.my .02 is that it is a great all around cam but i have never had anything else so i cant compare it for you.

I had an XR400 cam in mine for a few months. It helped a little bit. I got more what I was looking for from the WB all around cam I have in it now.

Good luck!

if you can swing the extra $$ go with the HRC.
