Just got done with a valve adjustment

I just got done with a valve adjustment on my 400ex. I followed all the instructions that the tech article said to do( very helpful). When i was done i started up the bike and it idles fine but when i start giving it gas it makes a high pitched sound from the top end.

I wasn't able to test ride it but as i was reving it, it was like weeeee weeeeee weeeeee. Could i have tighted the valves to tight? I tightened the intake valves to .004 and made sure a .005 wouldn't fit and for the exhaust .005 and made sure a .006 didn't fit.

I got to ride it to really get a feel for it but I was just wondering if it is making the noise because i tightened them too tight

i have a feeling the noise your hearing is a noise that the 400ex's make. it is hard to explain. i forget what it is but i am thinking the oil pump or something. if it isn't ticking or anything like that, i assume you did the job correctly.

Thanks, I think your right. I wasn't sure if it made that noise before.

Mine makes the same noise, and has since new. Same thing with friends.
