When u put a set of after market handle bars on the 300ex,what do u do with the igniton scence its hocked to the big red plastic thing.

No one knows what to do, no one has after market handle bars on there 300ex.Help me please thank you.

Some bore a hole in the ring around the tank and mount it on the side and some remove the lights and ignition totally and use a toggle switch in place of the key switch. You can then hide the switch wherever you want.:D

Try a search there's lots of posts on this one.

You can also use a ignition holder from a 250x.

Can u remove the lights and igniton complety and not have a key or it wont work that way ,what a toggle switch or what ever u called it

Any kind of waterproof switch will work. Marine switches are best. You might get a dead battery if you just disconnect everything unless you want to unhook the ignitiong wires when you aren't riding. Hope this helps.

Where can u buy the switch and what do u hock the switch up to.

zip tie it to your frame....hide it up on your frame like close to the spark plug or somewhere you can reach it from any area on your frame...make it easy to get at and safe place.. make sure you fiond a waterproof one

K thanks guys ill go see if my local hardware store has one thanks for your help. Its for my girl friend she said the red thing and light where ugly so got handle bars to get rid of it.

What wire do u connect the switch to.Like how do u hoock it up. Like directions and where does everyhting go to.

use the same wires that are connected to the key ignition..they should be long enough to reach by the motor on the frame

Here's what I did w/ mine, just drilled a hole & stuck it in :)

What dirtmomma did would be the easyiest thing to do. That's what I did on mine to. Works great, and there's no need to buy any more parts, or deal with cutting and splicing wires.
