supposedly there are guys out there moving the rear shock mount up on the chassis to accomodate a longer rear shock on the 400ex. custom axis is makingh a shock specially for this application. does anybody have this done? has anybody seen one? pictures? i have welding abilities and could do the mod if i knew what to do. also, where are the spots on the 400ex frame that need to be gusseted?

thanks in advance

never heard of that but you can run a link-less setup. it uses a longer shock that bolts to the swingarm

Yeah axis makes a no link rear shock for the 400ex, that allows the shock to bolt directly to the swingarm and you can gain up to 2-3 more inches of travel. Some people don't like the realm of the no-link setup though because its alot more of a rough ride and the hits are more direct but the shocks absorb the hits alot better.

Yeah Ken Cornwell of Rocky Ridge Racing has this done to his 400ex and he says its an awsome setup. He said that he's been mesing around with it on some jumps, trying to case it, and come up short, and he says it don't even feel like it wants to throw you off. Call him and get some info on how to set it up at (270) 259-9604.
