what exactly is a "dead man" switch? Are you talking about the "Run" switch or an aftermarket kill switch (tether)?

Please explain a little more in detail of what the problem is...

well sounds like you have it wired up incorrectly... was it working before or is this a new install?

If you dont know what wires to hook it into, dont just hack away at it... wait until someone with a 300 knows what wires to use.

no i still have the regular killswitch on this is a new tether switch...i read the directions and they say go to the ignition and hook the wires up there so i did that and i blew a fuse
and advice??

Ground the wire with the loop, and hook the other wire to the pulse wire on the coil. Won't blow fuses, and don't use the instructions it won't work they way the instructions indicate.

Takes maybe 25 mins, that way. You need a saddle type clip (picture) The wire with the loop ground that to the frame I did mine where the coil grounds to. You need to BARE the pulse wire on the coil not cut it. Only about a 1/4." Cut off the wire on the kill switch right by the connector stip it about 1/4" One side of the wire clip is through, put that over the pulse wire on the coil and on the other side insert the kill wire. Squeeze the clip with pliers and then clip the cover over it. The metal part in the picture makes the connection between the 2 wires. Test it then coverup good in Electrical tape. 3m is a good product. Just for the record you are connecting to a wire going to the coil and not actually connecting to the coil. Hope this helps.

The pulse wire is the wire that sends spark to the coil. On the 300ex it's the closet one to you. It's NOT the wire that goes from the spark plug to the coil. It is attatched with a spade connection pull it off and put the probe of a meter in it, the other probe ground to the frame somewhere. Make sure the probes stay put and hit the starter button with the key on and in neutral. If you get a reading, around 16-18 volts, that's the correct wire. Hook it up as described and you should be golden. Post any other questions doesn't matter how stupid you think they are. Somebody will help.
