I think the wheel size has alot to do with the size of bike you start out with, the type of riding you do, and the type of terrain you will be riding on.

A small rim with larger tire size would have more sidewall and thus cause more flex and roll over. A larger rim would give you less sidewall, less flex and roll over, allowing you to put less air pressure in the tire to hold it's shape.

Sand, mud, hard pack, and track conditions would all require a different tire and rim size if you were trying to create the perfect combination. If you are an average rider, or ride in different terrain all the time, this would be less important.

Someone else would be better at explaining the technical terms on all that crap I just wrote.

8 inch is normally for running 18 inch tires and used mainly for MX racing.

9 inch is a good all around rim size for all and any riding app.

10 inch is good for flat track/TT racing maybe dune quads but not really the best for big jumps.

they got the holeshot mx's in 9 in. now and i think they'll be the best for mx. less side walls flex but still the flex to bite good. Plus the stock d.i.d rims are some of the strongest rims made

300ex's have 9" rims. They are the same rims as the 400's.

so if i were to get the XCR's in 20x11x10, would that be bad idea for general use? i'm thinking less roll-over?
