air scoops

this is a stupid question but what do air scoops do on a 400ex i heard some people talking about then and i just got mine iwas just wondering that they do

flow more air to the engine to help keep it cooler.

there purpose is to direct more air into the engines cooling fins. I have a pair of OMF scoops, and they work great. They did bend when I roled on pavment, but than again it was a pretty bad crash, and they easily bent back. I would recomend them of "tinners" air scoops. Definitly for the $50 I paid for them:D
