110 leaded octane?

Bought some 110 octane the other day in a 5 gallon drum(76 brand) and on the drum it says 110 leaded racing gasoline, is this ok? I thought leaded wasn't good for your motor thats why all the new cars use unleaded.:confused:

Its fine in a quad dirtbike or motorcycle. But isnt necessary unless you have a high compression piston.

They dont use it in new cars beacuse it clogs up the catylitic convertors. And some of the other emissions stuff in them.

What kind of bike and compression are you running?

The engine builder that I know actually reccomends running some leaded fuel (mixed with unleaded), because it helps out the valves. The lead cools and cushons the valves, adding to their life.

Running race gas, with out major mods to the motor are basically a big waist of money.

Yep. Before the days of catalytic converters and O2 sensors, the EPA pushed to reduce (and eventually eliminate) lead from gasoline because of emissions and health risks.

Leaded gas will clog catalytic converters and O2 sensors, which is why modern cars cannot use it. However, your quad doesn't have either of these components, so you're ok.

Leaded gas WILL help lubricate and extend the life of your valves.
