We just recieved our trx 450 today it was set up on our Dyno jet 188 Dyno using stock tires set at 12 lbs. The stock baseline after break-in resulted in 32.2 hp @7500 r.p.m. and torque was 25.1 ft. lbs@6200 r.p.m. For our first test we installed a Full CHM system, along with the HRC kit needle, air box lid and 185 main. We left the cam out for now so we could see what the stock short cam could do. The result is 35.2 horsepower @7600 r.p.m. and peak torque went up to 28.2 ft lbs. all this means a gain of 5.8 hp @ 4800 r.pm. and a 3.4 h.p gain at 7600. For our last test we installed the kit HRC cam "straight up" on stock marks just as any consumer would. As expected low end suffered slightly, due to more duration and thus, overlap. But the top end really came up! At 9000 r.p.m. where the stock engine is making 26.1 hp the kitted engine with full exhaust is still making 35.6 hp with a max hp reading of 38.6 @ 8200 r.p.m. The stock engine made peak @7500 r.p.m. Keep in mind that these numbers may read lower than someone elses, but the gains when done on the same dyno the same day are accurate. We maintained an air fuel ratio of 12.8-1 in all testing, pump regular was used. I will post more findings as we test porting, other cams etc.
