i got a set of freebie R rims that are mint. they only thing wrong is that they are the gaudy gold rims. anyone got any ideas on how getting it off well not taking it to a sandblaster etc? i tried aircraft stripper etc. any ideas cause i would like to have these around and match my quad:p

I used a steel wool wheel to get the red anodization off my rims. Took a while but turned out ok..better then red atleast:cool:

Get some Easy Off oven cleaner, I think the heavy duty comes in the yellow can. I used it to remove anodizing before, works like a charm.

Just find a local anodizing shop. All they will do is dip them in something and it removes the anodizing. I had this done to a windshield bracket for a sportbike. Took all of about 10 minutes from the time I gave it to them, until the time they gave it back.

yea but my tires are on their and i dont feel like taking them off:p

Hmmmm, that may cause a problem. Call the company and see what they say about it. I don't know what they use to remove the anodizing, but if it won't hurt the tire rubber, you may have your fix.

From the looks of those oval shaped holes you need to be getting some new rims anyway.
