Well, i got my 416 back a week ago and it is really hard to start. I have to pump the throttle like 10 times and it will barely try and start. It took like 15 minutes to get mine running the other day.

 what pilot jet do you have in it? try a 42 or a 45. also stick with the stock cdi box the after market ones are junk .;)

I never had starting problems with my rev box in the summer and fall. I have the stock pilot which I think is a 38 right??? I will try a 42 pilot and see if that helps. I would never put that stock rev box back on. I bounced off the limiter like crazy. Haven't hit it once with the aftermarket.

:) if the rev box is working for you keep using it. up your pilot jet you should be ok:p

why are you bouncing off the rev limiter.

your quad doesn't make any power when your motor is about to blow up.

there is no need to bounce off the limiter after 2nd gear MAYBE 3rd.

This is a question that comes to my mind daily YZ....... The power curve DEcreases after the stock set RPM box anways....

yep well said YZ. if you look at the dyno chart 400ex's make the most power at 6500-7000RPM and the stock revlimt is 9100RPM so why do you need to be reving at 10,000 12,000RPM you dont whant your valves to start float'n when your out riding/racing and have to push the quad back to yur truck.

I say just stick with the stock box and then you can get it started and you dont have to worry bout floating the valves;)

i know i may disagree with the majority too, but the extra rpm's opened my bike up too. i only need an extra 1000 rpms though. i realize that the motor quits making PEAK power before the rev limit, but when you shift into the next gear your rpm's won't be as low thus pulling harder. i will gain about 3 bike lengths in a drag race when using an aftermarket ignition over the stock box. its not that the ignition box is better but the extra rpms do help me out. however, i only run a 406 and this may want to rev a little higher than your 416's or bigger bores. with the 406, stage 2, and x-6, it needs to be at a fairly high rpm for best power. on a stock bike or a really big bore, i don't see how an aftermarket cdi would be too beneficial.
