to answer your pm, that is richer than i usually go. i assume you just let the bike sit and idle then shut it off and checked the plug? by the way, make sure the bike is up to full temp when doing this. that was just darker than i usually go. right now i am at 2 turns out on my fuel skrew with a 42 pilot jet in in my 10.8:1 406 with pipe, filer, etc. i would just make sure your headers aren't glowing at idle. its better to be a little rich than a little lean probally. when i was that rich on my pilot/fuel skrew, my bike wouldn't idle after i put my stage 2 cam in. so, i had to lean it out to a nice light tan. mine doens't show any black on the plug.

how did you do your test? Did you put in a brand new plug right before you did your test? If not that isn't telling you anything. Actually you can't tell anything from that pic. The place you want to check for color is down at the very base of the porceline down deep in the plug. There will be a little ring at the very bottom that should be a tan to light brown color. There is no need to do any kind of plug chop for the pilot circuit. All you need to do is to get the bike up to operateing temps and turn the fuel screw in and out until it reaches the highest idle. That is where you want it. It doesn't matter if the pipes glow or not. It is normal for them to glow at idle when just sitting there.

Can't tell from that pic. What you want to look for is the 'smoke ring', a color band at the base of the ceramic part of the plug.
A nice chocolate brown is good.
How did you do the plug chop? The best way is put in a fresh plug, ride around normally for a couple minutes to get it heated up and put a little color on it, then go WFO up to your top gear and cut the ignition and pull in the clutch at the same time (kill the motor and dont let the spinning tranny turn the piston and suck more fuel into the motor).
You can't do a plug chop at idle to check your pilot. Doesn't work that way.
