For those of you that have ridden the 450R, does it lack engine braking? Does it slow you down like a typical 4 stroke when you let off the throttle, or is more like a 250R, where you have to use the brakes more to slow yourself down? One of the magazines said it lacks engine braking and I was curious what the 450R would be compared to.

LOL
Was just about to post about this...

There is much less engine braking. I was going to post this question as a sanity check for me. After a week or so of riding it, I've realized there is significantly less engine braking than my 416EX had.

Not sure why....anyone?

Although I haven't ridden a 450R yet, I like the fact that it lacks engine braking because, for me, I feel I ride faster without it (on my 250r). I seem to charge faster into turns and hit the brakes at the last second. Where as with my 400ex, I seem to let the engine do a lot to slow me down. Anyway, the lack of engine braking will be a factor into the decision of which quad I buy in the future. It seems to suit my riding style better, and nobody has mentioned if the YFZ450 lacks engine braking or not.

It doesn't have engine braking because it has an auto compression relese.

the lack of Engine braking is from the light flywheel and ya the yfz does not have Engine braking
