It's a great pipe, looks good & sounds awesome, but it is LOUD! Might want to check on the AMA/ATVA sound rule before buying it.

ama rule is i think 101 db....im not sure...but there is ways to get arround it...aint like ama is going to go thru every quad in the pits and check their pipe....COME ON...there would be more time spent checking pipes than racing....

o and btw the price on the shorty....is 375.00

BLURR250X
02-05-2004, 05:08 PM
$375 isn't including a pipe right just the shorty silencer?

TCracin440ex
02-05-2004, 05:11 PM
the TC exhaust is a slip on....its 375.00 for the slipon....on a 400ex u have to modify your headpipe to run the TC exhaust...im not sure tho botu the 250x...

Dave400ex

The slip-on is $375 now? That's nuts.

TCracin440ex

He must have started one to many quads inside with no doors or windows open! That is insane! I mean come on, the HMF Carbon Bill Ballance is $550, much better looking, and I'm sorry, but I would just much rather have it over the TC!

TCracin440ex
02-05-2004, 06:56 PM
them wb carbon fibers are expensive they are askin like 799 for that full exhaust

i think my choped hetricks sounds better than any tc pipe anyways. on a yz426 the tc's sound like crap imo

TC's 250X pipe includes the head pipe, not just a slip on. Everybody is correct in saying TC pipes are very pricey, but Tom knows how to make 4-strokes fast. I probably wouldn't get a TC pipe unless TC did the rest of your motor. He tends to build his stuff to complement each of his components (ie. TC cam, TC pipe, etc., not TC cam, HMF pipe- well you get the picture). Tom knows his stuff and I bet he knows that people know that, so why not charge what he wants- people are still buying it. Supply and demand, ain't America great!

I'm fully convinced that Tom has been smelling exhaust fumes for too long...:o

$375 for that exhaust just topped my "best rip off list"..

Rico as an owner of one, I must say I would not pay that price for one. Actually if I had to go back, I would have got something different in the first place!

Well of course I'm not knocking Tom as an engine builder but I'm guessing the ATVA's new DB rulings did not help the sales of the shorty pipe..:o

For sure. I am actually looking to sell mine and get an HMF so I have the option of a Quiet Core if needed!

You can say that again! I remember at Loretta Lynn's MX a couple of years ago, Dave Diver rode right in front of me on his YZ426 bike with a TC exhaust as a was walking to the track. He gave it a quick rev and it was so loud it scared the crap out of me. I had to go back to the trailer and put on some clean underwear. :eek2:
