Jeff Stoess didn't have a good start and had to deal with the martian dust.

Bill Ballance gained the lead shortly after the start with Matt Smiley close behind.

Brandon Ballance was in 6th at the end of a train. The top six racers were only seperated by a max of three seconds between each of them.

Chris Borich was 10 seconds behind Brandon moving up quickly through the pack after having a bad start.

Almost one minute later, Bryan Cook came by in 8th Place with Todd Knippenberg only a few seconds behind him in 9th

Santo Derisi Rounded out the Top 10 Pro Riders, and was over 1.5 minutes behind the leader Bill Ballance.

Jeff Stoess moved up to 11th and was only three seconds behind Derisi

Thomas Barrett was in 12th only a few seconds behind Jeff Stoess, but after the 1st lap Barrett was out of the race.

Johnny Gallagher ran into problem on the 1st lap as you can tell by his front fender, and was back in 13th place.

Kim Kuhnle was in 14th and Andy Lagzdins was only a few seconds behind in 15th.

[Admin]

Tragically, Dirk DeCesare wrecked early in the 1st lap when he lost control in a rutted section of the course. He suffered four broken vertebras in his back and is in the Texas Hospital waiting to be able to return to an Ohio Hospital to continue his recovery.

It was his first Pro Race, and it is awful that this is how it turned out for him, so please keep him in your prayers.

William Yokley moved up to 2nd and was several seconds behind Ballance on the third lap. Bill Ballance attempted to pass a lapper, and they became tangled which caused him to wreck. William Yokley quickly moved into the lead while Ballance remounted his YFZ450.

William Yokley here is being assisted by Martin from Elka to get off the Main track on a alternative line to avoid stuck racers at the top of the hill.

Chris Borich moved all the way up to 2nd place with Matt Smiley running a close 3rd.

Bill Ballance had dropped back to 5th behind Trew, but was on the gas trying to regain his lead spot and quickly passed Trew to move up to 4th by the end of the third lap. He also closed the gap between him and Yokley to only 56 seconds.

Greg Trew returned to 5th place after a short stay in 4th place after Bill Ballance's wreck.

Santo Derisi had moved up to 6th place from a 10th place start, but his progression quickly came to and end when he lost his brakes. Shortly afterwards, he ran into more mechanical problems and was force to DNF the race after 3 laps :(

Todd Knippenberg, moved up from 7th to 6th after Derisi dropped out of the race.

Bryan Cook was running in 8th place

Johnny Gallagher & Andy Lagzdins ran with in a few seconds of each other almost the entire race.

Johnny C & Andy had to work around riders stuck on the side of the hill.

Jeff Stoess had dropped back to 18th place after running into fuel problems, so he was pushing his ATK to its limits to try to gain some positions.

Chad Duvall had dropped back to 8th place because of linkage binding issue, and to make things worse, his race was quickly ended after he snapped his chain in the 4th lap.

William Yokley continued to lead the race when the White Flag came out!

Bill Ballance really stepped it up and with the fastest 4th lap time of 23:29, and He was able to pass both Smiley and Borich to move back up to 2nd Place!

Ballance utilized alternative lines to pass lapped racers.

Matt Smiley was running strong in the 3rd spot with Chris Borich close behind.

At the end of the last lap, The Crowd patiently awaited to see who was going to come out of the Woods first and race to the finish line. Out of now where, William Yokley emerged from the Woods still in the lead with Ballance now where to be seen.

Ballance crossed the finish line in 2nd Place and recorded the fastest complete lap of the day with a 23:14 lap time and he closed the gap to only 27 seconds.

Everyone wondered if who would come out of the woods next? After about one minute, Matt Smiley emerged in the 3rd spot!

Matt Smiley Celebrated his Third Overall finish with a Thumbs Up! This year has definitely started out better for Matt than last year, but I am sure Matt will be alot happier if he can pull out a Win!

Pro Am was the 2nd Class to start. The Pro Am Class consist of Production and Non Production Quads, and the riders are ranked 11th to 50th that choose to run Pro Am. The highest ranked rider in the Class was #16 Jeremy Rice

#25 Brian Schmid,Open A 2003 Champion, grabbed the early lead off the line with #17 James Wahl close behind.

Jeremy Rice, quickly dropped back to 13th place in the 2nd lap after running into problems and was only able to work his way back up to 6th by the end of the race.

#500 Jason Lewis ran secondfor almost the entire race, but was passed by Travis Hill on the last lap and finished 3rd and 16th Overall

#24 Travis Hill ran consistently is the top 5 the entire race

#25 Brian Schmid came through the 1st lap in 4th, but he started dropping back as the race went because of atv problems. He ended up finishing 11th, but I expect to see him finish near the top soon enough.

#26 Joshua Ribley worked his way up to 5th by the end of the 2nd lap

After a horrible 3rd lap, Joshua dropped back to 16th Place, and managed to charge his way up to 12th by the end of the race and 33rd overall.

#25 Brad Macri on his New YFZ450 went on to finish 16th.

Timothy Gale, started out in 15th and worked his way up to 10th.

Jason Cudde finished 14th

#30 Glenn Coriell only finished 1 lap

#41 Mike Benson ran into numerous problems and quit after 2 laps

James Wahl went on to Win the Pro Am Class by over 4 minutes and finished 8th Overall.

The 4 Stroke A Class had an impressive 34 racers sign up, which was extremely impressive for the 1st race of the year.

4 Stroke A Start:

#705 Michael Burrows lead the first two laps, but started to slow down and #40 Gregg Stewart passed him for the lead in the third lap, and Jathan Seale passed Burrows to move up to 2nd Place on his new TRX450R

By the end of the 4th Lap, Seale had moved up to 1st after Gregg Stewart dropped out of race.

Jathan Seale went on the Win the 4 Stroke A Class and finish an amazing 12th overall on the TRX450R.

Michael Burrows went on to finish 2nd and 20th Overall.

#31 Ryan Lane finished 4th

#99 Noel Cook finished 5th aboard his 400EX

#49 John Rowling had a rough start and was back to 14th after the first lap

By the end of the race, John worked his way up to 7th place 35th overall

#125 also had a poor start and went from 18th all the way up to 9th to finish the race

Kevin O'laughlin had he opposite luck and started out in 3rd, but dropped back to 12th by the end of the race

The Open A start was combined with the 265A Class

By the End of the 1st Lap, Bryan Baker had a one minute lead over 2nd place on his new ride this year the Vforce 700 for kawasaki Team Green.

Bryan Baker was the 1st Pro Production Champion in 2002, but he took a year off to spend with his family and allow his back to heal.

Well, obviously the time off didn't slow him down!

#32 Eric Davis had worked his way up to 3rd place by the 2nd lap, but he was unable to finish the race and fell back to 17th

#58 Steve Zapfe was in 5th, but also didn't finish the race and ended up 18th

Tyler Lenig made his Afternoon debut after running the Stock Class last year and making his way up on the Podium. He went on to finish 7th

Lee Sawyer on his Gas Gas finished 15th

Bryan Baker went on the Win the Open A Class by over 9 minutes and finished an amazing 14th overall on a 500+ Pounds Vforce. Brian Shaw finished 2nd and Richie Brown third.

It is great to have Bryan back at the races, and I wish him continued success!

Jared Huffman lead the entire race with Kyle Miley closing the gap in the last lap to 4 seconds to finish 2nd. Ryan Wuebbeling finished 3rd several minutes back on his Vforce

Colby Kostman and Fred Mudd made there GNCC Debuts in the 4stk B Class. Colby is the C in C&D Racing, and it was great to see that he made the long drive from Nebraska to compete.

The 4 Stroke B Class was the Largest Class of the day with 43 racers.

4 Stroke B Start:

Taylor Kiser won the race on his Z400 by almost 4 minutes, and Quintonas Cranford finished and impressive 2nd on his KFZ after making the drive from Pauls Valley, OK. Hopefully, he will continue to follow the series.

#911 finished 5th and lead Cranford before the end of the 1st lap

Fredd Mudd finished the race in 26th

Scott Johson and Daniel Ray get stuck in the back up on the hill climb and finished 27th and 29th

Colby Kostman ran into Clutch issues shortly after the start and had to return to his pits to work on it. Unfortunately, he never did get the Clutch to keep from slipping and ended up finishing 31st.

The Open B Class had 24 racers and the start was combined with the 265 B Class of only three

Ryan Leckrone went on to win the race by almost 6 minutes. Jerry Costell (QuadNice) finished an impressive 2nd after his long drive from Minnesota

Dave Simmons Won the Class with John Coulter in 2nd, and Glenn Mcconnell in 3rd

John Cunningham Jr. had a horrible wreck only a few turns into the race and his quad received exstensive damage. Luckily, John received some massive bruising, but no broken bones.

John went out and checked out the race action after he returned to the pits.

The Sport Class:

A Blaster grabbed he holeshot by a large margin, but David McCarroll quickly made the pass and took the lead. Dave went on the lead every lap and won by almost 4 minutes

Mike Nash finished 2nd and Nathan Hankins finished 3rd

Many Riders got hung up on the last big uphill before the finish line and spectators would rush out to help them. The guy in the Superman Sweatshirt was out there the entire day helping out!
