Need to Beat a Z400

I have a 426Ex with a Hot cam stage 1 with a full HMF exhaust system. I want to be able to take a stock z400 and a z400 with a full Yoshimura on it. Think I can do it if my jetting is right? Thanks guys...:confused: :) :D :cool:

if you are looking for top speed, why didn't you go with the hot cam stage 2??

because i was told that if i went with the hot cam stage 2 i would have to take my airbox lid off and i didnt want to do that...

shoot the guy who told u have to take ur air box lid off to run a certain cam.

u can run a stage 2 with the air box lid on

I have a KFX400 and my friend has a 440ex from Curtis Sparkes.......my KFX has a Full Yoshi and i can beat him sometimes and he can beat me so i doubt you can beat this 426....but idk

If this is true, Your buddy's 440 is wasted!! Or it only has like 8:1 compression! A stock bore 400ex with a 11:1 je piston will smoke the drawls off a Z400 piped or not! The rider has alot to do with it also!:eek:

I dont believe that. Unless your friend cant ride or he weighs a hell of alot. In a straight line they are close. I know because my friend and I have pretty much the exact same bike with the same mods, same weight and riding ability. Every time he gets were even until about 3rd gear hes gets about a one quad lead where my front tire is at his rear and it stays until topend. I don't know but I think thats about as good of comparison as you can get in a straightline.

get one of these airbox mods from gt thunder, rejet and your roost will be fallin on his face at the mid way point..:D

Actually you should be able to walk all over him right now but the added air from the opened airbox will help a lot..;)

my 10.8:1 406 with stage 2 in took a piped z without too much of a problem. i didn't wax him but i took him bad enough that i would win every time in a race.

just make sure your jetted good and you should win without a problem.

we have local drags (300ft) where i live and i smoked both the z400, kfx400 and a piped predator (believe it or not). my 400 has no motor mods just fmf powerbomb w/ powercore 4 silencer, k&n, no air box lid, good jetting. plus like you all said the rider has a lot to do with it too.

You should be waxing a stock Z400 and beating a piped one pretty good too. I can beat them every time, heck I can beat stock raptors and banshees with my stock bore 10.5 to 1 comp. piston and hotcams stage 2. A 440 should be absolutely destroying a piped KFX 400. Sounds like something is wrong with the 440 or they are racing in reverse. lol j/k

dude you should be able to wax a z or kfx beyond belief. My basically stock 400 (see sig) can beat a stock kfx that is brand new every once in a while. He beats me about 2 out of 5 times goin prolly goin close to a quarter of a mile. when i do beat him we are close but i still beat him.

You should have him without any trouble.I have a basicly stock 400ex.It was rejetted with the free mods.And my buddy has a 400 with a pro circuit t-4 slip on.Rejetted and a K&N.


Against stock z's and KFX's they would put about 2-3 bikes on me and I couldn't catch them.They wouldn't pull away though either.This was in sand where we could all get tapped in 5th.My buddy could stay right next to them or beat them everytime.We haven't came across with a pipe yet.One of my little sister's freinds has a Z with an alba pipe.He's been talkin smack on my R and ex.I know the R has him.I just gotta make sure the ex can get him now.

Well believe it or not but at the ice races a few weekends ago, I'm not sure if I just had really good traction compared to them or something but I had no prob. beating all other 400's and I beat modded raptors and piped preds. Infact, I was only like 3mph(in 1000 feet) behind my dad's ds650. You should be able to beat piped Z-400's.-darren

I did it with a 406, 11.1 piston and all around cam. I came out ahead by a bike length.

My quad had more bottom end than that stock Z, but we were about dead even on mid-top end.

My lil 416 has already spanked a few ..After taking the dawg (400EX) out for a walk,,, I had to turn around and look back and see this look :huh on a Piped Banshee and Raptor owner's face and this look .:eek2: on a Z400.Beat the Banshee or Raptor choice is your's .......... by 3-4 Quads , Z400 by 6-7 Quads.the 400ex is called a dog by many but I always root for the underdawg.with a lil money and time you can do it.........alot of people put thier mod-stickers on thier Quads.I don't- those stickers are on my toolbox,We used to call em' sleepers back in the 70's-don't look like much till you wake em' up.........................kinda like an ole-time bar-room fight......LOL(been there done that)

Well i had the chance to race a Z400 today..... I have K&N Filter, and 6 1" holes cut in my airlid with 6 UNI Vents in them.....I also upped the main jet from a DJ142 to a DJ146, he was completely stock....... We lined up and since it was just us 2 i told him on his go.....He took off and so did i....and i ended up in the lead real quick..... until i hit the top end of 3rd gear and he started pulling on me.....he beat me by a very lil margin..... i would say our bikes are basically the same as far as speed..... He is also prolly a good 20lbs lighter then me.....

Now in the corners :D muhahaha he got owned!
