i just re-did my 400ex and put a curtis sparks advanced timing key in it. MAN! that makes a nice difference! now i think i need to re-jet. I kept playing with the air screw and i cant get it right. when i fan the throttle real quick it hesitates as soon as you hit it..like 0 to 1/8 th throttle it hesitates and pops, then when i rev it up real high and let it come back to an idle...it pops while it winds down...i ordered a #42 pilot jet and i think i should change the main jet too...right now i have a #38 pilot jet and a DJ146. Any suggestions would be appreciated. i also thought about massing with the needle clip...but i dont know how to do that.

put the 42 pilot in and see how it acts. i would leave that mainjet in if you didn't do any other mods besides the key. make sure the bike is fully warmed up. if not, there is a good chance it will hesitate.
