I am building this 250x and adapting 250r 2+ a-arms and spindles that I got off e-bay.
I had to buy hubs since the x had smaller wheel patern.
The bearing shaft on the spindles that I got takes a larger diameter inner bearing that the outer one.
The hubs I got takes the same size inner and outer.
Did the hubs change throughout the years?
Are the spindles not for an R?
I know the 250x hub fits the R spindle that came with the arms.

Any help would be greatful
Thanks, Ken

The wheel bolt pattern is the same on both. 4 on 144mm

Yeah the 88 89 250r had tapered shafts like the 400ex. any 88 89 250r front wheel bearings will work as well as 400ex or 300ex.

The hubs I got takes the same size inner and outer.

Yeah the early 250x and 250r spindles had strait shafts think they changed in 88.

Thanks for the reply.
So are the hubs interchangeable between the years and use different outer bearings? or would I need to get other hubs to work on the later R spindles?
Thanks, Ken

The hubs are interchangable as long as they use the same shaft. Like on my 400ex I can use 88 89 250r hubs if i wanted.

You will need to get some new hubs in the wanted forum here or ebay and get some 400ex hubs they should work fine. Only diffrence may be in the brake rotors. The newer rotors only have 3 bolts on the front.

K_Fulk:
The 87 250x had a 4/110 front pattern

I am getting ready to do the same setup, could you post some pics when you are done?

No problem, I happen to own one and am planning on swapping hubs so that I can pick up a set of used wheels.

It is really a big pain in the a**!
