my neighbor just showed me a fast and easy way to clean air filters. some of you probably know what i'm writing about so this is for those of you who do not. go down to your local do it center, lowes,etc... and buy a 5 gallon bucket and 2 or 3 gallons on mineral spirit. put the mineral spirit in the bucket and your ready to clean filters faster than ever. just put the filter in and rub it all over and before you know it the filter is clean. all the dirt and grim will sink to the bottom and the rest will stay clean. make sure you rise the filter with warm water because if you don't the mineral spirit won't let you oil your filter properly. hope this comes in handy.;)

It's fine for foam filters. I'm not sure about K&N style filters, but the owners manual actually recommends mineral spirits for foam filters.

we have a parts washer and you just change to mineral spirits when it gets to dirty so if you clean you filter and you mineral spirits isn't to black you can use it again. Just make sure you seal it or it will evaporate.

Check out No toil, It is Bio degradeable and it was invented by a guy who lives about 10 miles from me. He and his son's rode bikes and he invented this stuff about 7 yrs. ago out of frustration from cleaning filters on all his bikes. after raiding his kitchen trying to find something that worked, then went to the local supermarket got some ingreadants came up with the basics then got a chemist and rest is history. The are now nation wide and after they started to grow they kept they business here in Yuba City (Pop. 50,000) instead of selling out to a big company. This is the classic story of a product that was brainstormed from fellow riders that just got tired of cleaning filters and the mess of oils and gas and stuff to clean them with.
Anyway try their stuff, this is not a shameless plug just trying to pass on info. on a great product.

I don't know if I can post their link, but just do a search for No-Toil...........Oh Yeah they sell theie own brand of filters too.

Just my 2 cents

no-toil, I have that stuff, I hate it, it takes off everything but the oil and the dirt thats on the oil. It never cleans anything except the stuff not touching the filter oil.... my opinion.-darren

I cleaned my car's K&N with simply green the other day. Then use a hose gun to get it off.

Well I'm on the phone now ordering a new filter, the comination of the hose and the Simply green blew chucks of the filter off. I could see through it.

Yeah simple green, I love the stuff, I drink it with cheeseburgers but I don't think the filter liked it.
