I'm starting to race motocross and this is my first year and my dad isnt wanting to put a lot of money into my quad because he thinks i wont stick with it. So would 400ex a-arms fit onto a 300ex, and would it make the front of my quad any wider? And my last question, would the 400ex shocks work on it too?

the a-arms would go right on, and if you use your 300ex shocks it will sit lower. the 400ex shocks will not fit.
works will make you custom length shocks to fit the application for $300. give them a call, they will tell you what to do.works performance shocks (http://www.worksperformance.com)

Alright guys heres the deal. 400ex/250r a arms will work on the 250x/ 300ex. 250r/400ex shocks will work on the 250x/300ex if you make a shock mount. i got a pair of 250r shocks in perf condition for $100 shipped. heres a link to a site that has a 250x with 250r shocks and armshttp://www.angelfire.com/extreme2/factoryphil/250x.html

OK, I know the 400ex a-arms will work on the 300, but will it handle weird at all because I didn't widen the axle?

it should handle fine. it would probably handle better with longer axles.
