Thinking about making my quad into a crf instead of buying a 450r.

instead of buying the 450R and having to go through getting all the mods over again

from what i heard all your aftermarket stuff on your 400 fits on a 450r, or at least thats what the guys at my local honda shop said, convert yours to stock, keep your parts, throw them on the 450r, you got a tight machine...:macho

incorect, none of the parts will fit, shocks are diff lenght and the geometry would be way off..

wait..400ex is the same geometry as the trx450?

so i can use my arms, shocks, etc on a trx450 if i buy one?

Where are you going to get all that money lol.. geez nick ur lucky.. The motor is like around 3500-4000 usually I think.. expensive.. then ya gotta convert and make things to fit

motor is about 2gs.. and im not sure on the frame, but i know the LSR ones are about 2400, if u look at it like this for around 4,400 dollars, u can have a better quad than the TRX450 and saved a ton of money of just buying the machine and modding it out. On top of that u can sell your 400ex frame, and motor. so that cuts down on the price. IMO

you then will have to rig up an exhaust, get a water pump relocater, buy radiator, kick start extention, then worry about the air boots matching and adapters for that, YFZ450 throttle cable is needed to work with crf carb and 400ex throttle housing....

alright, i will work on getting you guys the info monday, and post it up monday evening. i myself am finishing up making a carb boot so all the plastic is off so i will get some good pictures also

If i were you this is what i would do.

Arens 400ex frame( so your 400ex parts will bolt right up), you will have to get the crf450 motor to fit but one of the members did the same thing, using a arens 400ex frame and put a crf450 motor in it.

get all the stuff needed which 416exmx said.

sell your 416 motor( you could get like 1000-1500 for it.

find a whole bike and sell the crf450's frame or find a used crf motor on ebay which i looked yesterday and they are going for mad low prices.

and in the end you will have a kick asssssssssssss quad!
