On a 2 stroke is it the same as a 4 stroke? When you get a psiton u can get a high compression and make more power with it? I am not good with the 2 strokes at all.

To my understanding there is not much power in higher compression. No where near as much as a 4 stroke. There are a lot of "cool heads" out there that have interchangable domes to get higher compression so there must be a little somthing there.

Yes, you can get higher compression pistons for a 2-stroke. You can also get lighter pistons than stock.

If all you want to do is raise compression, just go to a thinner head gasket.

For example, on a 250R (any year) you have at least three head gasket choices using a stock piston:

'89 CR250 head gasket : .017 This is a copper gasket, and it will require about 100 octane to be safe. You should end up with about 200-210 psi compression

'85 ATC250R head gasket: .045 This is similar to the stock '86-'89 gasket, but much thinner. It won't require race gas, should only be about 180-190 psi, but will require Premium (93)

TRX250R head gasket: .055 Stock gasket, Should have about 160-170 psi with stock piston, Regular gas will work.

Running a Wiseco Pro-Lite will slightly increase compression, but main benefit is lighter weight=quicker revs.

Higher compression on a 2-stroke is very noticeable, it increases power and acceleration everywhere. If there's one drawback is that if you go high enough (220 and up psi) it starts to limit the motor's ability to rev. If you're interested , post back and I'll explain why.
