It will help keep your motor cooler. I wouldnt say its necessary but will help if you have higher compression and a bigger piston.

Anything that lowers the temp of the motor helps. My friend has a nice jaggs for sale if you are interested.

I have read and seen all the other oil cooler threads on here but have not seen this one. This one looks like it connects to a new oil filter cover and where does the other end of the line go to. Does it work in conjuction with the stock oil cooler. Whoever knows anything about this jaggs cooler or is using one I would like to no more info. Where is the site for this also ? I just am just hesitant on drilling in to the head for the other type of coolers

Thanks

on the jaggs one they supply the new oil filter cover. then the cooler part is just hoseclamped to the frame in front of the header.

Yeah - but don't you still have to tap the head? It got to return the oil somehow...

if you look at the picture it looks like the lines bolth go into the filter cover one is a supply and the other is a return, instead of the oil just going through the filter it also goes through the cooller and then back

Yes all you have to do is bolt on the cap and clamp the cooler to the frame. Thats it no drilling or tapping, bolt it up and go.

That's pretty sweet. So there is a cooler made by "Jeggs" and a different one made by "Jagg". Damn that's confusing. I don't think I've seen this one before. Anbody know who sells them and how much?

The Jagg cooler lowers the oil temp by using oil circulating through the oil filter cover. Other oil coolers such as the Four Stroke Tech model I use are attached to the oil line running up to the cam/rockers. These ones cool just the oil running to the head unlike the Jagg model that cools all the oil circulating in the crankcase. For the FST cooler, instead of cutting the oil line in half and attaching the oil cooler hose for a 300ex, the 400ex you're required to drill into the head as there is no oil line running up the outside of the cylinder, I believe.

:) That is a nice oil cooler. Nobody likes a hot engine I know it is scarry to drill holes in the head but the advantage of doing that is the cool oil will be going to the hottest part of the motor which is the head . inwhich will make the cam/brgs/springs/and the rockers last longer. did it with my old 250x noticed a big no huge difference in engine temp.[got to get the oil to the hottest place on the enging,THE HEAD].. just my thaut.:p

Yes it is very important to keep the head cool. But you DO NOT have to drill the head with this cooler. It just bolts up to where the oil filter cap is and thats it. NO drilling or anything bolt up and run cooler!

It's a 30min. job to install my cooler and there is no drilling or tapping and it's less than 1/2 the price and it work better.

For the 250, 300 or 400?

It seems there is a bit of confusion in this thread. Some are talking about the 250/300 and others are talking about the 400.

Can you help us and clear things up a bit?

Thanks, Joe

I'm sure some of them do but I think Mickey Dunlaps 300ex and 400ex coolers are different. I'm hoping he'll be back to clarify this.

I have the FST oil cooler and I had to drill and tap my head and right side engine cover and it took more than a half hour.

I'm not complaining cause it wasn't that hard to do and it works good.

Mickey did you make a differnt kind of cooler than the one that I ordered from FST???

I'am talking about a 250x/300ex/350x oil cooler. My 400ex has to be drilled and tapped.

I really like your 400ex oil cooler, anyone who has doubts about tapping the head should worry, it's not that big of deal. just read the instruction and take your time, there is more work putting in a new piston than this. If you have any doubts about tapping the head take it to a machine shop and let them do that, the rest is cake...Definatley worth doing:D :D

Thanks Mickey for a sweet cooler!

I was looking into a Jagg oil cooler to. Dennis Kirk (http://www.denniskirk.com) has one for the 300ex and 250x for $213.00. Heres the part # 49418 and a pic of the kit http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/EnlargeImagePopup.jsp?skuId=49418
