Valve clearance......

Well guys I just installed my 416 with xr400 cam, I think that i tightened my valves to much when I checked for clearance..., .004 and.005, Right? Should the feeler guage be loose in their or should it be tight. Well anyways when I started it tp, you here a knocking noise coming from the valve area. Whats happening? PLEASE HELP

Check out your valve adjustment procedure on this website. If you turned the moter the wrong way when getting the "t" lined up on the flywheel, you may have engaged the compression release which would make your valves way loose when it is off.
