300ex....help please

does anyone know where you can buy key replacements for the 300ex......like when u take that plastic off the top of the handlebars then there is no place for the key....does anyone know where you can put the key or if theyre is a kit for this?

i made some measurements and cut a piece of thin sheetmetal and made a 1 inch hole and dremelled i out a bit so the key would fit in it and then the other holes i made attatch right to the handlebar clamp eccept my headlight was taken off so i put the neutral and reverse lights on there too

there is no kit for taking he headlight off

just unbolt the brass bolts from the steering stem, then the light should come pretty much free wit hthe exception for the plastic things under the handlebars..might get hooked up. then just look inside the back of the light and pull off the rubber thing attatched to it...it is just a plug in dont worry bou wrecking wireds just dont pull by the wires
then all you have to do is find the neutral wires(2) and the revers wires(2) and unhook them and it should come free.. to get to the wires you have to cut a zip tie or something i wasnt sure what it is then just look by the neutral light and guide yourself along the wires to the plugs where they area ttatched. pull them off for both and it should come free. after you are done make sure you tape up the light plug and the n and r wires up really good with leectrcal tape

that should be it and no there is no thumb control made with only ignition button and kill switch you will have to keep that bulky thing on there.

i took all of it off,and i put my key on the bottom left side of the frame right by the spark plug cap.....and noone no's were your key is either:blah:

I think you can see it all in this picture. Made a mount like the others are describing, and mounted my neutral reverse lights in front of the gas cap.

I put mine on the side of the front plastic....the part of the front fenders that cover the sides of the gas tank....then i got maier and didnt want to mess with it so i removed the key altogether

until i made mt key plate i jsust took the ignition switch out and hooked up my two wires and just connected then together so i dont need a key. just apuch of a button....i just dont know if i was wasting my battery.. if i wasnt i might just keep then connected and screw the key

if you drill a hole in the side of the plastic it will work...thats what i did
