My son got his 450 on Wednesday night...we drove it in the drive a few minutes then parked for the night. Yesterday he took it out on our track in the snow and called me 15 min. later telling me it was 'oozing out something blue from everywhere'...upon getting home I had to agree...it was coming out of many bearing and bushing areas and blending with the ice/snow...upon checking it in the shop it seems to be grease with blue dye. I ran it in the shop until the cooling fan came on...then watched it cool down...nothing leaking...anyone else notice this?

I haven't got mine yet, but will be sure to look out for anything like you said. I is probably some type of dye to check the cooling system prior to shipment and it didnt get flushed out. Don't know. Thanks for the post. Hope everything else is running well on it.

Its amazing...my son can't eat sleep or breath without sitting on it...its not coolant overflow..I checked that..it freezes!...its just excess chassis lube I can only guess..I'll be interested in hearing if others see it....other than that its a really nice machine...I have to say though...perhaps people were correct saying I'm nuts giving it to my 14 year old...but he's been riding 9 years and on his 265R for a year. He jumps around 45 feet on or backyard tabletop.

LoL

Mine was doing that yesterday too. Its the marker/paint the dealer (or Honda) uses to verify that bolts have been checked, probably for tighness torquing.

My 400EX had yellow stuff on all the bolts, but that seemed to be a permanent material, as it never came off....even 3 years later it was still on some of my bolts.

For whatever reason on the 450R, they used a marker/paint that melts from heat or maybe even just water. Caught me off guard too, but I'm certain thats all it is...

Probably the High temp Urea Based Grease that Honda uses. It has a blue Dye in it. Navy Colored. Probably, they packed the bearings really good and as the machine gets warm in those area's the extra grease is being forced out.

Either that, or it is Bleeding Blue wishing it was a Yamaha! LOL!

The blue oozing is the sign of weak internals. It's crying out to be a Yamaha, hence the blue tears. :D

It is blue dye or marker from the heads of the bolts. I am assuming it is some kind of quality check at the factory letting them know that each bolt is torqued or something. Mine did it too as I was riding in some snow yeaterday as well. After you hit it with a hose it will all wash off, nothing to be concerned about.
