what does it mean to run a higher compression piston? can i run a higher compression piston-same size as stock in my 400 with a cam? and what will i gain by doin that? also whats a good compression and stage 1 or 2 cam to go with it? i ride mostly xc thanks

it means u get more compression, lol you beneift from this, you have throttle response and some other things, and you should want to run mayb 11:1 or 10:1,if you run 12:1 then you would most likely need race gas

should i put a cam with this setup? which one stage 1 or 2?

im thinkin stage one,im not sure one gives more bottom end which you would most likely want for Xc and the stage two gives more top end, somone correct me if im wrong

If you ride XC you are most lickely going to want the stage 1 over the stage 2. (hot cam) The stage 1 cam is more for low to mid range power and stage 2 is more for the mid to top end power. I have never ran a hot cam but if you do a search you will learn more.
TC makes a XC drop in cam also. The HRC cam is more of mid to top end punch with out any loss to the low end. (HRC what I run)

A higher compression piston will give you some noticable power and will also help a little in the low end. If your doing a cam i would do a higher compression piston also. They complement each other well. If you keep it under the 11.1 range you will get away with pump gas. Over 11.1 you will need to run race gas. Some people on here also run a 50/50 mix with 11.1 compression. I run the 10.8-1 compression and runs OK with premium 91 gas and runs even better with a 50/50 mix.

Good Luck
