what octane you guys running in your 450r

just curious what octane the dealers are telling you to run in the quad

I'd run that klotz stuff since its a race quad. or mix half klotz and half 93 octane but thats what my preference is

91 or 92 should be just fine unless you raise the compression with a piston or deck work.

Flipping thru the owners manual, I just saw this....it recommends 91 minumum.

A buddy of mine has a CRF 450 and he said when he ran regular 92 octane pump gas he ate up vavles like nothing. After replacing them twice he decided to run some 108 octane race gas. He said after the switch he hasn't had any problems with the valves. I think I am going to play it safe and run race gas from start to finish.

the octane rateing shouldn't have any influance on the valves. Not sure what is going on in his bike but I doubt that was the problem. I just run premium pump gas in mine and it runs fine on it and does NOT need race gas. When I put a hi. comp. piston in it I don't plan on running race gas but if it starts to ping I will. That is the tell tale sign that it needs race gas.
