I BOUGHT A STOCK 400EX FOR THE WIFE, IN THE PAST SHE HAS HAD A FEW UTILITY BIKES AND A BLASTER. SO MY QUESTION IS HOW CAN I TAME THE LOWEND A LITTLE FOR HER? WOULD GOING UP A TOOTH IN FRONT AND MAYBE EVEN DOWN A FEW IN BACK BOTH MAKE IT EASIER FOR HER TTO RIDE OR ARE THERE SOME OTHER TRICKS TO DETUNE A EX?

I would say keep with the stock gearing and maybe put a throttle stop on it so she can't pin it on mistake. If she has ridden other quads before take her out a few times on the flat land with some small bumps and hills to get used to it. Who knows she may be OK with it.

Putting a throttle stop wont help the low end grunt, just top speed for each gear.

Going up one tooth on the front sprocket will help.

Also, all caps are harder to read;)

You can drill and tap a screw in the throttle housing to act as a governer. You could also go higher on the gearing, but the throttle stop will have a greater effect.
