250r or 450r????

hey i would like to know what eveyone thinks. i have the choice to either get a race ready 1986 250r with all the suspension work and body work done and a little motor work or i can get the new 450r. in your opinion what will be faster after some motor work. i would be doing 265 PV kit on the 250r and on the 450r i would be putting a pipe and a cam and some other bolt ons. i do trail riding and dune riding and i would like to get into MX racing . any input that you guys give me will be very helpful. also in the long run what will be cheaper to maintane(sp??)thanks

umm.. I would go with the 250R it sounds nice. That would be a lot faster than the 450R only cuz its 2 stroke but really its all what u want were not riding it.

i would most definantly pick the 450r last longer fast you can mod it and make it faster and it will last longer.

450r all the way.

I'm really happy with my 250r, but they are getting old. I guess if you have the money go with the 450r. But without a doubt the 250r is a great choice!!!

I'm not trying to start any thing but the 450r doesn't stand a chance in hell against the 250r he's talking about.My r rips and is getting a 270 cylinder now and i would not hesitate putting it against your 500 right now.I have beat another one lap Dunlop 500ex with the 265r.I'm not wanting to start a i'm faster than you thing hear all im saying is don't try to put things in this dudes head over wich quad is better.Who really cares anyway which he gets as long as he has a kick *** time riding it.Good luck deciding......in my opinion i would pick the yfz after seeing the 2 in a comparison.

put as much work into the 450r and see which one is faster. when my 400 was stock i raced a couple of stock 250r's and beat them both. if you want speed the 250r is no longer the machine you want. and lets see if your 250r can come too a almost complete stop around a tree in 4 gear and pull no problem because thats what my bike was built too do, and i know your 250r can't.

I agree with you my 250 has no bottom end but my point was that the other guy said that 250r's weren't fast. Like I said before I'm not trying to say I'm faster than you type of thing.The point was don't tell the person putting the post up that this bike sucks or this and that tell him thr ups and downs of the bike.Maybe I should not have posted my first peply?

hey everyone i started the post and i would like to tell u all thanks. i got the 250r. i have only gotten to ride it up and down my street no trails yet(damn work) but i want to say that just riding it up and down my street it pulls hard threw the gears and i love it so far. so thanks for all the imput.
