I just bought a pair of 20 inch rear tires off of a yzf450. I'm going to be running harescrambles and I was wondering if I should gear it closer to stock. I'm running the stock 13 38 now and I was thinking 14 38 or 14 36. I know it will give me more topspeed. Just wondering if I should keep it low for the woods or not.

I don't think I really lost that much top end with 20's and stock gearing but I did gain lots of torque. My problem was no ground clearance. Personally I liked the low end in the woods though.

I would just run stock gearing. You'll lose some top end but with lower gearing you worry less about being the right gear coming out a turn or at the bottom of a hill.

That's what I was thinking, but wanted to hear from somebody else. Thanks

I would have to agree, i would prefer low-end in the woods. What does 12-38 do. I want to gain some clearance up front to fabricate a case saver. So by adding a 12 tooth front sprocket, what will happen. I hope more low-end.

thanks

Yeah it gives you more low end, I think the same as 20 inch tires.
