I hear ya...

A few nights ago (the first part of this snow storm) the weather guy @7pm that night predicted 2" starting at 11pm. Well my fiance went out to a candle party....figuring if she was home by 9'ish, she would easily miss the snow. Well, by 8:30 we had over 3" on the ground and NO plow trucks out and it was snowing BIG TIME.... I had to pick her up and leave her car in a parking lot all night..if you dont have 4wd, the hills in Pittsburgh are impossible with as little as 1-2" of snow. God damn weatherman screwed everyone up....

my rant on the weather!

I hear ya man! They never let us out of school early... there excuse is "parents arent home from work yet"... OK!

I think parents would be less worried about there kid being home alone for an extra hour or two, rather than having them come home on time, in the middle of a friggen ice storm... last year, one of our buses slid into a ditch b/c it couldnt make the turn and ended up almost on its side, it took 7 snomobiles and 1 person in a big chevy truck to pull it out, b/c there were no tow trucks available, b/c they were out getting all the other ppl unstuck b/c of the roads!

they have never let us out early but they have made us stay later. We had to sit in a classroom doing some stupid busy work for like 2 hours before they could get all the buses there and the roads cleared.

I go to Purdue North Central - which is a satellite campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. It is a college that everyone commutes to (there is no on-campus housing) from 4 different counties. All the surrounding high schools, elementary, and middle schools cancelled classes today. DID THEY CANCEL OUR CLASSES??? NOOOOO - I attached a picture I just took from out of my office doors, I don't think this looks like the type of weather students should be driving in, especially if we are coming from an hour away!!! It makes me so mad.

6 inches of snow and they wont let you leave ? It would have to be like 2 ft here to be the same. Just shows the differences in different areas. I am glad no body was hurt.

yeah exactly Its pretty funny to watch on the news about people in toronto and the states complain how it is like -25. Oh by the way it was -40f today with out the windchill with it was like -55f or something and I'm about 6 hours from the us boarder just to let you know :)

The scariest thing Ive seen at school........

One time when I was in 10th grade I skipped english class to go smoke. I got back in the school about 5 mins before the bell rang so there was no one in the halls. Just as I got to my locker a sheriffs deputy came running down the hall towards me with a shotgun clutched in his hands. I was like "what the hell, alls I did was skip a class, jeez!" but when he got closer he yelled at me to go to the gym right away. So, I went to the gym and found all the other students had been ushered there as well. Appartently some meth addicted freak that lived near the school was shooting a gun in his house so they locked down the school until they could get this guy under control. It wasn't the fact this nut case was shooting near the school that scared me, it was seeing the cop run at me with a shot gun. That was not cool.

yeah, i'd like to go back in time and meet the Brit that came to North America and said "Yep, we'll take the coldest part." i personally want to thank that man for doing that and leaving the southern part of North America for us.

haha......i live in a small town and go to a small high skool......not the scariest but the funniest thing id ever seen had to be a month or 2 ago when a girl opened her locker in the morning and there was a live porcupine in it....she opened her locker in the morning and wasnt sure what it was.....someone poked it and it started to waddle down there hall and it pissed and chit all over the place......

the principal was so pissed....and they never found out who did it!!

I wish that they would let us out early if it snowed here....we have like 2 feet of snow for about 9 months a year, so we would never have school:p

The only time we have had school canceled was when it rained 6 inches last year in December, and froze. People were ice skating down the middle of the highway....Doesn't it make you want to come here??:huh

Glad to here that the girl in the car was ok. They should let your guys schools out early if they know its going to be a dangerous ride home, or even cancel school all togeather:macho

mmy school didnt close yesterday, there was an inch of ice all over the sidewalks and railings, i walked to the first set of stairs and said "**** that" then neither of my instructors showed up. funny today isnt nearly as bad as yesterday but they decided to close today.

Close the school ??? no way!!

I grew up in North Dakota. 6 inches of snow is nothing.

We still went to school in 30 below and 3 feet of fresh snow.

But their was no 35 degree banked hills either.

Jeeez, they close schools here in Columbus, Ohio if a flake falls out of the sky, and the kids go home and play out side

o trust me this is the girl that will sue... she a loser, drug addict with a kid, complains about everything... that was the 1st thing she screamed yesterday

we ended up with about 2ft of snow here... they finally called school off today but the only reason was because of the wreck...

the reason it gets so bad out is that i live in a little town... we have one town truck in the town with a snow plow on it to keep all the roads open... it'd take 5 or 6 to actually clear my town out but the town just can't afford that... when we left school yesterday there was 6 inches of snow on the road... it wasn't plowed at all... i also live in the hilliest part of pa basically so its up a hill and down another

When I was a freshman in hs, first hour this chick comes to our classroom door and ask this girl to the hall. Girl goes out there and bam, that other chick punched her right in the nose. They started banging each others heads into the cinder block wall, blood was everywhere. They fell right by my locker, blood on my locker, pool of blood right in front of it too. It was pretty crazy, but freakin sweet at the same time!:blah:

That kind of happened to me, our school didn't let us out of school early. And the juniors have to park on a back road behind the school. Of course the back road wasn't plowed, so my friend and I tried to go, went to take a turn, hit a patch of ice and hit a tree and f-ed up the whole front of his car and side. I hate school...:o

last year, we had snow flakes as big as lugnuts and they had to let us out. i rode the bus home and i didnt know where my stop was because it was so bad.

We got about 11 inches here in in MI. Its all past us now though. So the back country roads are mine in the truck. lol They cancelled my late college classes last night be we have them today while everything else is closed. Its fine with me gets more of the idiots off the roads. The only time in high shcool we got let out earlier is when we got an ice storm and one day we got 14 inches of snow in a couple hours.

not to be a dick but,. half the accidents that happen are because of not knowing how to drive in the conditions. I meen some ppl drive the same on a snow covered road as the do on a clean dry road, and they expect to be able to have the same handling and stopping power..... ahh no.

sorry guys, this is just what ive experieced. but yeah, i agree our school never lets us out in wooter conditions either.

I agree with you 100%, but how can you expect people to drive in the snow and ice when they cant even drive on dry roads... thats what I see. It really surprises me to see some people out there drive...

My scariest moment in high school has nothing to do with snow or weather for that matter. We had a black kid that was associated with a gang and he attended a neighboring high school. This kid was sitting in the back seat of a car and someone walked up behind the car and shot him in the back of the head (this was on a Friday night). Well of course that was the big talk at school that Monday morning. Some goof ball says, "Well I'm glad that n----rs dead." This statement gets back to the gang and the word on the street was that this gang was going to pop this kid on the following Friday. Lo and behold, Friday afternoon comes and the next thing you know our school is on lockdown, no one enters and no one leaves. We had SWAT at our school with snipers on the roof. All doorways were blocked by police and we couldn't leave until the police secured the entire school grounds. Even then we were escorted in groups to our cars or buses.
