new plug and flushed the fuel system but need some help

does the motor turn over? do a compression test and make sure you have good compression. make sure the gas is turned on. make sure the killswitch is on. do not pump the throttle when starting it could be flooded. make sure the plug wire is connected. we really need more information to help you.

have you ever taken the carb aprt? , because you could have bent the float , its real easy to bend it

replaced the plug again and fired right up. but plugs r a pain in the *** to replace . maybe to rich ? how do i adjust the mix?

What's your set up now? Jets, filter, pipe any other mods?
The cold weather you're having is probably affecting it also.

the bike is completely stock no mods yet the bike sat for like 3 months with no maint. maybe i should give it a tune up

I would start with that before asking why it won't run....clean the carb out good, and check all of the lines. If the bike is completely stock that you shouldn't have to worry about jetting or the mixture screw.

clean your carb, lines, change the oil, and drain that old gas out, (this isnt the best idea, but get it fired up and run a couple squirts of starting fluid, threw the breather, while revign the motor, and the air fuil mixture screw is on the bottom of the carb i beleive if u have a 400ex!

thanks everyone for the info im gonna try a tune up i will keep everyone updated
