I was just wondering for you guys or gals that have a 416 what gearing you all are running. I want a little more room between gears with out loosing much low end. We ride allot of woods, fire roads and climb hills. I am running stock gearing right now. Just looking for longer time between gears if this makes sence. I did not like the 14T up front when my motor was stock. Who runs the 15 / 36 or 15/ 37 gearing. Did you loose much low end. Any feed back would be great
Thanks

My set up is below.

Try 16-38 gearing, that worked well for me.

I'm running a 16/38 on my 416 it runs great, as for the case saver i had to grind a little bit on my stock one to make it fit. Nothing major though

I ran a 15/36 for MX and used it one time at the hatfield trail system and thought it sucked. 15/38 is perfect for 20 inch rear tires I think. I also like to have stump pulling torque down low too so if you like more top speed then go for it.

I didn't have to grind anything off of my Pro Design case saver.

i have run 16/38 and 15/36. personally i couldn't tell much difference. i am happy with the 15/36 so i stuck with it. i figured i would leave the smaller sprocket on the rear so i would shave a little weight. not saying i could notice it though. i get more than enough top end with the 15/36 and i actually couldn't pull the bike to more speed up top with the 16/38. i figured if i wasn't gaining any more top speed i might as well lower the gearing for as much torque as possible.

with 16/38 i did have to shave my stock case saver. it think they make a few that will fit 16's though.

I run 16/36 and am pretty happy with it. This is with 18 inch tires.

Thanks everyone

It sounds like for the woods riding i do with 20" tires it may be better to stick with the stock gearing. I do not want to loose much low end grunt. In the woods we rairly get it wide open in fifth gear untill we hit the long fire roads. Just thinking a little more pull in each gear down low. If is effects the low end allot I do not want to switch.

I have 15/36. I found that I ran thru the gears way too fast with stock gearing. The 15/36 lets you wind it out longer, has good low end (I'm 235 pounds) and great top. This is in the dunes tho...

I used a 13T on the front really was strong on the bottom end with good mid. I ride alot of woods and hills with climbing over logs and such. Now the reason I don't anymore it keeps breaking off over half the teeth at once in about 2 months. Not sure if using a different tooth in the back would solve this problem.

GOOD LUCK!!
