drop the fuel bowl and see if debris is stuck in the main jet

hey now, u said u let out the clutch, u never said anything about giving it gas.

the way u described it is exactly what happends when u just drop the clutch without giving it gas.

:o

check to make sure ur brakes aren't frozen on. My bike did that last week when it was really cold and my brakes were just frozen. After warming up i put it in gear and it just died. I broke them lose and it worked fine.

nope brakes are fine because i rolled it out of garage and i am giving it gas and i called my local shop and they said that it might be the nuetral safety switch. Ne body know ne thing about these.

Nope....if it were the switch it would stall as soon as you put it in gear. can you rev it in gear with the clutch in?

If the main jet is clogged it will still idle and rev fine in neutral. Since there is no load on the engine in neutral, it takes alot less fuel. Clean the main jet and make sure you are getting the full flow of gas out of the tank.

first it back fires like some black smoke and then it just shut off.

I have to agree that it sounds fuel related. Spark is normally not load sensitive and it seems fine under no load. Take an hour and pull and clean the carb and I bet you will be ok.

alright i am goin to pull the carb today and give a good cleanin, thanks for all the help, if that doesnt work what else could it possibly be??

gonna be fuel. If not in the carb then maybe something stuck in the petcock or crap fuel. You may also want to change the plug since it may be gas fouled from all this messing around with it.

ok thanks everybody for posting, i dropped the carb and it wasnt really dirty and the main jet did have a lil somthing in it, i think it was a gas bubble though, i will try to run it tomorrow

Good Job following through. I would say there was some junk in the carb and you just trashed the plug trying to get it to start. Just enjoy it and maybe carry a spare plug and a wrench just to make sure.

thanks everybody for helping out and i think from now on i am goin to carry a spare plug, i might try getting some duck tape and taping it to the inside of my air box or something, this way i'll never lose it. Does ne body else carry one with them, if so where do u put it at.

I am guessing he can afford 5.00 to do it the right way. The holder keeps the plug threads clean and dry.
