Maxxis Sur Traks or ITP Spider Tracs ?

For Mud Hard/Loose Pack dirt and swampy comditions what would I do better with...I need to be able to get through Mud when I come to it and I only Trail Ride, nothing Else. The Bike they will be going on is a 250X.

So what should I get Maxxis Sur Traks or ITP Spider Tracs what would be ideal for these conditions

Also what would be a good tire to put on front with either of these combinations ? something that Grips Good.

id say spider tracs and titan 489s on the front

Ive always heard bad stuff about spider tracks, like they wear quickly, dont clean good and are extremely heavy and wide and will rub the exaust, i dont know how much of that is true........

Anyways, I have the Sur Traks on my 300EX, I really like them, I think they are a great tire, Ive been in deep mud, sand, snow, everything, they are great, they really hook up
They are pretty light too, wich I like, they are only 2/bias ply, but Ie had no puncture problems at all, Id reccomend the Sur traks

Would the 2 Ply's wear Faster than the 4's ???...and about the bad points of the Spider Tracs are they True Because I think I'll be Getting 25X13-9 if I get them, and I wouldn't want them Rub against My Plastics or Exhaust or anything at all for that Matter

and I'd like them to last a nice amount of time

The ply rating has nothing to do with how quick the tires wear. It's how many layers the tire carcas has. I can tell you that sur-trak's wear very well, I frequently ride on the road with mine, and they have maybe a 1/4 of wear from the last 6 months. If these are for a 250x, definately get size 22x11x9 or SMALLER!!!! 25x13-9 tires are 25 inches tall compared to the stock 22's. If the 22 inch version of the Spider Track's came even close to rubbing, than the 25 inch version would definatly rub! I know that the sur-trak's will not rub against anything.

PS. Try to buy the tire that you will use best. Trust me on this...I buy WAY too many tires,

i am running maxxas sur traks on the back of my 300ex and love them! so do all my buddies and that is what they plan to get as soon as there stock tires wear out! i am also running the maxxas razor fronts and they are a great tire for trail riding! when riding in mud the front tires stay really clean and provid excellant steering and the rear sur tracks just keep pushing you trought the mud and they through alot of mud on your buddy that is riding behind you!! LOL
get the sur traks-you will like them!!!

I have an 87 250x with only an airfilter mod. I have the 22x11x9 sur traks on the rear and pure sports bandits on the front. It seems to be a good combination. I have never had a puncture and I have ridden in about all riding conditions. With the sur traks they are directional and you can reverse them to use them in the sand also. They work good in the mud. Although they can be a little rough on the hardpack. As far as wear they have lasted well showing little wear. One thing to think about the bigger tire you get the more horsepower that will be robbed from the bike. I would definately not get anything bigger than the 22x11x9 for your 250 because I have noticed a horsepower loss on mine. Good luck. Oh yeah, Rocky Mountain was the cheapest when I bought mine.

Hey JB' 400, what size front sprocket are you using to pull those 22's in the rear?

How do the sur traks work on hard pack? Do they slide very well. I was thinking of getting these for my 250ex. or maybee the realtors? which are better.

I am not exactly sure. Whatever is stock. I replaced the chain and front sprocket a couple years ago and went with stock oem parts. Do you know what comes stock on the 250x

You can slide them but minimally. They have large side knobs, almost like teeth that bite hard. If your not careful you can easily catch an edge and tip it. The side knobs work excellent for deep mud or ruts, which is what they are designed for really not wheel spinning action.

Stock front sprocket is 13 tooth. Assuming that is what you have, how is the low power with that. Do you have good low end power and accellartion?/ wheelieing.

I think I have better low end power than high end power. Although it is hard to compare after riding the 400 so much. In addition I think the hook up I get with the sur traks gives you a sense of low end torque.
