I have a 1/2 gallon tub full of bolts, but the problem is water somehow got in there and now all of the bolts are rusted and arent looking so great at all. Nothing that I would put on the fourwheeler. Is there anyway to bring them back to their original condition?

I've tried soaking some of them in kerosine for a couple days with no results. I found Tin-Zinc plating system in Eastwood but its $70...a little more than I wanted to spend?

any suggestions?

if you have the patience you can take a wire wheel to all of them

Maybe try calling up some of your local plating houses. Ask them how much it would be to zink or tin plate all the bolts. The place I use only charges a couple bucks a pound. I do this to all my bolts and nuts when I am redoing a quad. Makes them look like new and is inexpensive:)

i have...the trouble is these are all allen heads...which are nice, but I cant torque them all down

its just nice being able to have a good assortment of bolts at the track or wherever, it kept me from havin to run out to the hardware store everyday

I would look for a local plating shop. I know we have a local shop and our local guy has a lot of bolts nickel plated.

i built my 425 and 310R with these kits. i used the proper loc-tite and torque specs. i never encountered any problems at all. i agree tho, having some extras is never a bad thing.

Here you go
http://www.oldengine.org/members/billd/electrol.htm

Or you could just have them media blasted, shouldn't cost more than maybe $10-$15.

Or try out one of the plug-n-plate kits from here

They also have a forums that could help you if you have any problems.

Here is another forum that may help
