z400 vs 400ex

Why do people that own z400's automatically think that they are big and bad for beating a bone stock 400ex. A z stock has 2 cams which make a big difference AND 11:1 compression. That is way more than the 400ex's 9:1 compression. Yes a stock z is fast but if you put an 11:1 piston in a 400ex and a different cam with more top end you would wax a z400 horribly bad. I think??? Any feed back? what do you think about the big bad z 400?

id much rather have my ex. the z may be a little faster in a staright line, but it dosent stand a chance on a track or woods. not to mention the reliability.....

i have raced a z400 with a pipe and maxxis razr tires in a 250 ft drag race against my completely stock 400ex and won every time by 2 or 3 quad lengths

then the guy with the Z cant race b/c it is noticeably faster than a 400ex...at least theyre faster than mine when my cobra is on there....Z's are kinda squirrely though (not as bad as the raptor)....ex's handle much better

I raced a brand new Z 400 last night on the lake with my 2002 400...and I smoked it by like 9 quad lenghts in maybe a 700ft drag...it could all be with traction but I still beat it pretty bad...all the mods on my quad are in my sig all I got is the HMF pipe which I LOVE and the tires....makes a big difference tho

I used to own a z400 when they first came out, sold it and now I ride my 02' 400ex. I must say that the honda feels better than the z, handles alot better too. I raced 400ex's all the time when I had my z and I would beat them all the time(with a yosh pipe), when it was stock it was a tight tight race between the two.
I dont see why people think the z is so much quicker than the honda becuz it really isnt. whoever had the holeshot won, the z would catch up a little bit but would'nt beat a stock 400ex if it was ahead. when I put 22'' tires on the back(dumb choice) it would rape 400ex's top end)

Not only did you beat it but by 9 quad lenghs? You sure it wasn't a z250?:huh

sure the Z400 has more power but that dont mean chit if you cant ride,its 90% rider 10% bike..

Two years ago, I dragged race a stock Z on pavement with my 400EX. At the time, my 400 was a 11.1 406 with an all around cam in it. I got the jump, but he stuck right there with me. After we topped out, he was only half a bike length behind. We raced about five times.

i love my z.. but your right a 400 ex does handle better. but with some shocks and lowering the z it handles and rides as good as an ex... just my 2 cents worth

yep I was sure it wasnt one....I think the traction from the tires was the biggest difference
