My wife has given me the go ahead on buying the 450r and i found one for $6,200 OTD....the problem i'm having is that i just bought a new 400ex a few months ago. i figure i can get around $4,000 for the ex since it's still in mint condition. So the difference in cost is only $2,200.......Ok, do i spend the extra $2,200 on the ex (i plan on leaving the motor basically stock and working on the suspention) or just go ahead and buy the 450r? I can pick it up on wednesday...

Scine you dont have a ton of money in aftermarket parts on the EX, and its still in prime selling condition get the 450R.

I agree, get the R - but I would just try to trade it back to the dealer and save yourself the headache of trying to sell it.

Im gonna disagree and say keep the 400ex. They respond well to mods and are very reliable.

Also, its the 450r's first year. There are always some bugs that need to be worked out.

hey man think of what ur gonna be doing with the thing. if ur just gonna do mostly trails and crap like that i'd say keep the ex but the R can also do trails but i kinda doubt since its a racy that it will be as reliable but it is a honda so its still gonna be good. i do think that in the long run u will be very happy if u have the R. You would also get a lot more respect on a track with the R than u wud with any ex.
if i was u i would sell the 400 and get the R:)

it depends on how serious you are about quads. if your really into riding, modding, staying competitive, etc. then ya i would move it up a notch, but if not i would just stick with the 400ex.
