After about 1-1/2 hrs my dang thumb gets so tired. Are you all just used to it or does anyone mod the spring?

I keep my thumb throttle point up at about 45 degrees, then I can just use my palm. It takes a little getting used to and you have to shift your hand quick if you are going down hill then right back up a hill - but overall it'ss worth it to me.

After going from a stocker to a sparks modified carb i noticed the sparks took 1/2 the effort to push in. Call him up and ask what he does to make it so much easier.

I know LRD said on their old site to slightly grind the od of the spring just to take a little material off I may try this.

seriously, you can cut a couple coils and then stretch the spring to keep it the same length but lessoning the springyness :o

but then again i don't reccomend any of this due to the fact i'd hate see of pic of you on the news after you wrapped your face around a tree cause you throttle hung open :p

Yeah, that wouldn't be pretty. The LRD way leaves the spring intact and full length but makes the spring slightly lighter.

both mods have the same effect, neither ones more dangerous than the other, both are lessening the tension of spring which in turn could cause your throttle to hang up :o

I read somewere about taking the spring out of the throttle housing on the handlebars, that there was enough pull on the spring in the carb itself to pull the thumb part back to the idle position. Well that was a crock of CHIT,, do not do that unless you have a death wish. Just do like I did and buy a fancy ice cream scooper with the thumb thingy and do that while your watchin the tube....:o you can also turn it over and practice pullin in a clutch lever with one finger wth your left hand...:macho there's not a ton of tension with the ice cream scooper but do it for about 5 minutes none stop and you'll think different..

Hehe, I like that scoop thingy there Rico, makes sense. I already use the hand strength things but thats a different position where your thumb is really just an anchor. I'll have to look at that technique. :blah:
